Brooks is well known around campus for being a little bit of a slapper. When a frenemy bets him that he can’t seduce Matt, one of the campus good-boys, he willingly accepts the terms. There is no way that Matt is going to give it up easily; this is going to take some wooing. But Brook has never had to let anyone this close to him to get them into bed; will he really be able to treat Matt as a emotionless screw to win a bet?
Matt has been brought up with strict religious beliefs. He doesn’t believe in sex without love and remains a virgin even though the majority of his friends are not. There is another reason why Matt has never let anyone get close to him intimately; he needs kink in the bedroom. His desires sicken him and he worries that he will hurt the person in his bed because of them.
When Brooks starts to flirt with him, Matt doesn’t quite know what is going on. Unable to resist, he allows him to date him and get closer than anyone has before. But they are heading down a road that ends at a bed; will Matt be able to come to terms with his sexuality and allow himself to consummate their relationship?
I’m a little behind on this series but I do so love it. The Holsum College series is a lovely MM series following the lives and loves of the gay populace of the local college. In each separate book, there has been a very different story to tell. This one is possibly the kinkiest one as it has BDSM themes. I say it has themes as, although Matt is blatantly a Dominant, Brook is not a submissive. The exploration of the dynamics of the sexual relationship is only briefly touched upon in this novella, but I feel that is in fitting with the overall theme of the series.
I enjoyed the struggle that Matt had in marrying his beliefs with all aspects of his sexuality. I’m sure there are many people with religious beliefs who face similar problems. Yes, Matt had more issues because he wanted to dominate too. I loved it and I really wanted to give him a massive hug throughout his tale. My heart bled for him because I couldn’t imagine having to hide my true identity from anyone.
I’ll admit, I was dubious about this being Brooks’s story simply because he wasa bit of a douche in another story. When this tale started with a bet, my heart sank because I hate douchy hero’s. Surprisingly, he changed it round and I loved him by the end. The way he supported and encouraged Matt throughout made me want to give a him a big kiss.  He became a hero I enjoyed.
Overall, this is a fabulous addition to a fantastic series. I loved these two men and actively cheered for their HEA. A sweet, slightly kink read which made me feel all warm and gooey inside.
