A Nix Uber Quicky BDSM Review – Kim Dare – All the Gear, No Idea (3.75 Stars)

Can Brett really succeed in matching kinky up strangers perfectly, two Valentines Days in a row? He’s going to have a damn good try.

Twelve months ago, Brett had a great time setting up his master’s friend Jack with his own friend, Ricky. When he sees a new novice sub walk into the club—one who obviously has all the gear and no idea—Brett is instantly convinced that he would be the perfect guy to compliment McCormack’s hard core attitude.

McCormack’s not impressed. Theo is damn near terrified. Can clueless and hardcore live happily ever after? It’s time to find out.

Please note: This book may make more sense if you’ve read Call Me Sir, Boy

So, I read this one cos I enjoyed book one so much. Although this one was good, I didn’t enjoy it anywhere near as much.

Brett (from book One), is a bratty sub of the highest calibre, but I think he’s hilarious. On the Valentine’s night, he walks up to Master McCormack and tells him that his own Master wants to take on a second sub and wants McCormack to test the newbie to see if he’s up to scratch. Yes, this made me a little icky! Anyhow, turns out that Brett is a big liar and he just wants to set up McCormack and Theo (the newbie who, as the title suggests, has all the gear and no idea!).

McCormack agrees to do this. I don’t know why. Theo agrees to go into the wet room with him, mainly because he seems to think that a sub cannot say no to a Dom and this is just how they hook up. In th e wet room is one of the oddest yet sexual scenes that I’ve ever seen. It’s submission in its ultimate form and it was quite a thing to read about. Of course, there is no way these two aren’t finding out about Brett’s lie, but how do they move on from it?

It wasn’t BDSM as it’s usually depicted. There are no scenes of orgasm control, whips or real bondage; it is Domination and submission at its very purest. For that alone, there is no way that I could give it a bad mark. But, there was something missing, something that wasn’t quite meshing. They were fabulous characters, but there was no fun what so ever. It was all very serious and I couldn’t understand where the enjoyment came from.

The writing was, as usual, flawless. The depiction of submission was lovely. The only think missing was some enjoyment for all the characters involved!
