Today, I have the pleasure of hosting the lovely Lexi Blake. Now I’ll admit, up until Christmas I had never heard of this author. Then the All Romance sale came round and everything was 50% off…..I took this as an excuse to buy nearly 40 books. Amongst them was a BDSM book written by two authors, only one of which I heard of. I adore Shayla Black’s work, so I bought the first in her Masters of the Menage series that she had written with an unfamilair author called Lexi Blake. I devoured that book, bought the next and then bought Lexi’s own series the Masters and Mercenaries. It is amazing…. I keep checking the website for news on book three and I don’t have time to check anyone’s bloody website….

Here’s what she has to say……

I write BDSM. Ah, I love that moment when I say those four little letters and get one of three responses. The first, and most often response is accompanied by a blank stare and the question—What? The second is a look of general distaste followed by some obnoxious, rude questions about my morality.

But the third? Oh, the third is why I write.

Really? They ask. There are books about me?

Reading and writing is a way to connect to a greater world, to find a true sense of belonging, to feel that we are not alone. Different lifestyles are often marginalized, but fiction can change that. It’s odd to think that a single story can affect a life, but it’s true. Finding one character to connect with when you feel so very alone can bring comfort or even hope. That book—or genre of books—can become a sort of comfort food for the soul. So I love to write the romantic side of BDSM for all of the women out there who are strong enough to submit. For the women who are strong enough to dominate. For the women who are strong enough to choose and never feel shame for taking what is their right.

At its deepest heart, BDSM is about communication, pure true connection. From Dom to sub, friend to friend, lover to lover. And communication is also the heart of romance.

Lexi Blake is the author of the Masters and Mercenaries series and co-writes Masters of Ménage with Shayla Black. Look her up on Facebook or at www.lexiblake.net
