Blog Tour and Giveaway : Untouchable by Talia Hibbert (includes an excerpt)

Today, I am very pleased to be part of the blog tour for Untouchanble by Talia Hibbert. This fabulous romance series features diverse characters finding their HEA. Untouchable is the second in the series (each book is linked however does work as a standalone) and is absolutely wonderful. My review is here if you want to read more from me and we have a wonderful except to share with you. Scroll to the bottom for a chance to win eCopies of the series (I have loved both books AND the novella) and a giftcard.     What happens when a bad boy becomes a man? Nate Davis didn’t plan on returning to his hateful hometown. But then, he didn’t plan on being widowed in his twenties, or on his mother getting sick, either. Turns out, life doesn’t give a f$*k about plans. Hannah Kabbah thought her career in childcare was over. After all, no-one wants a woman with a criminal damage conviction watching their kids. But when her high… Keep Reading »

Celebrating Romance : Maria Vale introduces Silver and Tiberius from The Last Wolf (incl. Giveaway)

Celebrating Romance : Maria Vale introduces Silver and Tiberius from The Last Wolf (incl. Giveaway)

It was Leonora Jeansdottir who first introduced me to the Great North Pack. The Pack’s Human Behaviors teacher, she felt that it was time to introduce the Pack to humans. Come out of hiding, even if only in “fiction.” This pack lives and has lived for 350 years in what is now call the Adirondacks. They are not werewolves. I made the mistake of calling them that early on and Leonora snapped at me. Although she usually dressed in knock-off Chanel and spiked heels, she is a very large woman (6’ 4” in said spiked heels) and when she snaps it is…disconcerting. The Great North are not “werewolves.” They call themselves Pack and are wolves first and foremost. That is their truest and most sacred form. It is what defines their culture and their hierarchy. Despite that minor setback early in our interactions, Leonora eventually decided that I could be trusted. She introduced me to a number of what they call Offlanders, Pack who live mostly as humans doing… Keep Reading »

Celebrating Romance 2018 : Demisexuality in Romance by Antonia Aquilante (Includes recommendation & a giveaway)

Celebrating Romance 2018 : Demisexuality in Romance by Antonia Aquilante (Includes recommendation & a giveaway)

Hi, everyone! I’m Antonia, and I write predominantly fantasy romance with LGBTQ characters. I want to thank Nix so much for running this celebration of romance and for letting me be a part of it. I’m excited to be here! I read my first romance novel at twelve, though even before then I always wanted a story where the characters lived happily ever after. My mom loaned the Nora Roberts book to me, telling me to skip the sex scenes…I didn’t. I’ve been a voracious romance reader ever since, and I still share books with my mom. Romance is where I go when I want to the comfort of that HEA, and the hope and happiness it brings. That’s what romance gives us. That’s why I write romance too—I want to write a little more hope and joy and love into the world for everyone. I think we all need it. I didn’t expect it, but in some ways, romance also taught me something more about who I am…. Keep Reading »

Celebrating Romance : I’m a Google Stalker by Lisa Emme (Includes Giveaway)

Celebrating Romance : I’m a Google Stalker by Lisa Emme (Includes Giveaway)

Hi everyone! I’m Lisa Emme and I write urban fantasy and hot, steamy romance. Thanks to Nix for letting me be here to help celebrate Romance Month on Scorching Book Reviews. Today I have my romance writer hat on and I want to talk to you about one of the best tools a writer has…Google. We’ve all heard the joke, “don’t judge me by my browser history, I’m a writer not a serial killer”. Funny but true, as I discovered when I started writing more than five years ago. I’ve Googled an eclectic array of things – guns, knives, tequila, sex toys, demons, magic rituals, the human circulatory system – which because of Google’s search-based marketing, means the ads I get online are often just as varied. To this day, I still get ads on Facebook for chicken coops, all because I Googled them when writing my most recent romance, The Yacht Club. There’s no doubt that Google is a useful tool, but you can do more than just… Keep Reading »

Celebrating Romance 2018 : In Love with History by Sandra Schwab (Incl. giveaway)

Celebrating Romance 2018 : In Love with History by Sandra Schwab (Incl. giveaway)

First of all, thank you so much for organizing this month-long Celebrating-Romance party, Nix! I’m delighted to be part of it! I grew up in a small town in the Black Forest, which was surrounded by wooded hills and overlooked not just by one, but two ruined castles. Is it any wonder then that I fell in love with history at a very young age? So imagine my delight when back in 1999 I discovered a whole genre of historical fiction with central love stories and happy endings guaranteed! (No exploding wax babies! No main characters dying on the last page! YAY!!!) Shortly thereafter, I started to write in English and, while I was at it, switched genres, too, and started to write romance. I began where you would expect: in Regency England with pretty country houses and all that. Oh, and garden follies. With stone pineapples on top. In short, I love the slightly weird bits of history, and I find it deeply satisfying to explore the lesser… Keep Reading »

Celebrating Romance : Tami Lund introduces Baby, I’m home and offers a giveaway

Celebrating Romance : Tami Lund introduces Baby, I’m home and offers a giveaway

Hi, I’m Tami Lund and I write romance. Whenever I type that, I envision myself in a room with a bunch of other people and we’re all sitting around in a circle in those scoop-shaped (not remotely comfortable – who the hell ever thought those were a good idea and why do they still exist?) plastic chairs and we’re taking turns confessing some deep, dark secret. Don’t ask me why; I guess that overactive imagination is what compels me to write. Anyway, so I write romance, all sorts of romance. I write romantic suspense (my Tough Love series), and straight up sexy happily ever afters (the Sexy Bad series I co-write with Misti Murphy). I also write paranormal – a lot of paranormal. Shapeshifters and witches and gypsies and vampires. Later this year I’ll release my first dragon shifter book, and in December I’ll release a book involving demons and faeries. This blog post is about none of that. Yeah, sorry for that buildup (although if you’re really curious,… Keep Reading »

Celebrating Romance 2018 : Fanfic and publishing by Rosalie Stanton (Including Excerpt & Giveaway)

Celebrating Romance 2018 : Fanfic and publishing by Rosalie Stanton (Including Excerpt & Giveaway)

I have what you call an obsessive personality. I was never content to just watch or read something. I wanted to experience it for myself. I’d get books or movies stuck in my head as easily as songs, to the point where I had little choice but to watch or read the same thing over and over again until my brain hurt at the thought of just one more time. This inability to just enjoy media for what it was is more or less responsible for where I am today. See, if I had just sat back and accepted Buffy and Spike’s TV relationship, I never would have head-dived into fanfiction, where I spent nearly a decade breaking canon, rewriting episodes, and exploring an endless world of what-ifs. The experience fandom gave me is directly responsible for my being published today, and I will never forget it. Hell, I stopped actively writing fanfiction years ago, but last year decided to take it up again. I might not be cranking… Keep Reading »

Why Writing F/F Matters by Anne Gaston (Inc. giveaway)

Why Writing F/F Matters by Anne Gaston (Inc. giveaway)

First things first… big shoutout to Nix for opening her blog to a bunch of heathens who love to talk romance. When we read a good story, a story that makes us fangirl all over the story and author and surrounding universe, there’s usually a strong character arc somewhere in the mix. We watched an evolution or realized that we had a shared experience with this fictional person and it connected us to the story on a deeper level. Romance gave me my own character arc, IRL (in real life). 10 years ago, I wasn’t who I am today–and that’s a history I have to own, though I promise to do and be better. I was politically conservative and anti-LGBTQIA, among other things. But the more I read romance, the more I realized that love wasn’t limited to straight, white, Christian, cisgendered people. It belongs to all of us. Fast forward to 2014 when, as a writer, I hit a point in time where I didn’t think I could write… Keep Reading »

Celebrating Romance 2018 : New and Debut Author Recommendations by Erin McLellan (Incl. Giveaway)

Celebrating Romance 2018 : New and Debut Author Recommendations by Erin McLellan (Incl. Giveaway)

I’m thrilled to be here on Scorching Book Reviews today. Nix, thank you so much for hosting me! Today, I’m talking about discovering new authors! As a reader, I have a tendency to focus all of my buying and reading power on my favorite and familiar auto-buy authors. That’s not a bad thing at all, but I’ve found that I also miss out on new authors if I’m not actively seeking them out. New and debut authors have to work extra hard to make a dent in a romance market that’s so rich with new releases and established authors. This year I made it my goal to read more new and debut authors. There are some really great authors just now starting their careers, and these are some of my favorites! All of these authors had a debut come out in 2017 or 2018.   To Love a Scandalous Duke by Liana de la Rosa This m/f historical romance has everything—scandal, murder, fraud, secrets, betrayal, twins, a hidden diary,… Keep Reading »
