Tuesday Book Talk : What rules should every book blogger should know?

Tuesday Book Talk : What rules should every book blogger should know?

Over the years, I’ve picked up many tips and tricks. Some I wish I’d known sooner and so I’m going to pass on the love. Bloggers, feel free to add your own additions in the comments below; the more the merrier! Authors are not your friends. This one is the hardest to deal with. Authors are business people and the majority of them will deal with you, the blogger, in a professional capacity. They will be lovely and friendly but please don’t read more into it.     FTC regulations are not there for fun. I’m fucking deadly serious on this one. No, I don’t give a flying fuck if you are international you need to still do it if you are targetting US readership. Declare where you got the product you are reviewing, declare if you have any relationship with the company that produces them and you better damn declare if you receive any money for reviews. Picture copyright means you can’t just put any picture on your site… Keep Reading »

Tuesday Book Talk – Where have all the Blog Hop Memes gone?

Tuesday Book Talk – Where have all the Blog Hop Memes gone?

Well, as I’ve said, on a Tuesday, I will be posting book-related talk here on Scorching Book Reviews. This could be from me, an author, another blogger or a reader.  If you want to get involved, DM/email me 🙂 Today, you get to read stuff from me!! 🙂 I want to start with something that has been bugging me of late about blogging. Now, I’ve been blogging for around 8 years (I am an old timer in this game) and the landscape has changed dramatically. Some things I really enjoyed being part of are gone and the one thing I’m going to focus on is blog-hop memes.     Now, maybe I’m just missing them all but I can’t seem to find many outside of YA anymore and that saddens me. I love talking to fellow bloggers on twitter (I’m barred from FB as I’m not a real person :D) but it doesn’t necessarily mean I visit their site and see all the hard work they’ve put in. Blog Hop… Keep Reading »

Liv Arias thought she’d never return to Long Acre—until a documentary brings her and the other survivors back home. Hot Cover Monday : Hot and Badgered by Shelly Laurenston

It’s not every day that a beautiful naked woman falls out of the sky and lands face-first on grizzly shifter Berg Dunn’s hotel balcony. Definitely they don’t usually hop up and demand his best gun. Berg gives the lady a grizzly-sized t-shirt and his cell phone, too, just on style points. And then she’s gone, taking his XXXL heart with her. By the time he figures out she’s a honey badger shifter, it’s too late. Honey badgers are survivors. Brutal, vicious, ill-tempered survivors. Or maybe Charlie Taylor-MacKilligan is just pissed that her useless father is trying to get them all killed again, and won’t even tell her how. Protecting her little sisters has always been her job, and she’s not about to let some pesky giant grizzly protection specialist with a network of every shifter in Manhattan get in her way. Wait. Tuesday Talk – Authors, we need you!

Tuesday Talk – Authors, we need you!

I’m starting a new feature here on the blog; Tuesday Talk! I want Tuesday Talk to be a feature where readers can read something different from their favourite authors by hearing their views on a topic of their choosing. It can be a piece on anything the author wants to talk about. So, what do I need? Well authors, I need you! If you are interested in writing something, drop me a line on twitter or by email at scorchingrevs@gmail.com. Do I have any limits to what you write? I reserve the right to refuse to publish anything I find objectionable but most topics will be fine. It could be a thought provoking piece or something as simple as recipe sharing, there are no limits and it doesn’t have to take you an age to put together. Why would you want to take part? It’s good promo! Also, more and more people are choosing to buy books from authors with a social media presence; this is just a different format…. Keep Reading »
