Searching for my reading Mojo ….

Searching for my reading Mojo ….

I haven’t reviewed in weeks. It isn’t that I haven’t been reading (boy have I been reading….) but I can’t seem to get out of my re-read cycle! In the last two weeks I’ve reread Cat and Bones (One of my all time favourite UF series), some of the Penny Reid Dating in the City (not all. I really don’t like a few) and I’m on to the O’Kane series by Kit Rocha (I may be here a while guys because….   So what did it? What killed the best reading streak I’ve been on in years? It was a book. Not a bad book, just a meh book. The issue with following so many book bloggers on twitter is that you get caught up in the excitement. When you read tweet after tweet about a book and how much others love it, you get VERY excited to read it too and share the love. I went into said book thinking ….   I came out thinking …   I… Keep Reading »

Tuesday Talk – What do you think makes a good author interview?

Tuesday Talk – What do you think makes a good author interview?

So, I’m in the middle of sorting out the Celebrating Romance Event. I’m pretty excited about it; We have some FABULOUS authors and posts planned. I’m also doing two posts as part of a cross-promotion event (you shall see … :D). Some authors have asked for interview questions. I love interview posts as you can learn some fab things about the secret life of authors. I don’t want this to be full of the same questions these authors had to answer before, so I’m asking for your views. Personally, I want to know why authors write what they write, what books they love to read or even what they hate about romance. I like to stick to book talk, but I don’t want to just know about their latest book.. I know, I’m a rarity! So, what about you readers? What do you think makes a good interview? What do you want to read about?

Tuesday Book Talk : What rules should every book blogger should know?

Tuesday Book Talk : What rules should every book blogger should know?

Over the years, I’ve picked up many tips and tricks. Some I wish I’d known sooner and so I’m going to pass on the love. Bloggers, feel free to add your own additions in the comments below; the more the merrier! Authors are not your friends. This one is the hardest to deal with. Authors are business people and the majority of them will deal with you, the blogger, in a professional capacity. They will be lovely and friendly but please don’t read more into it.     FTC regulations are not there for fun. I’m fucking deadly serious on this one. No, I don’t give a flying fuck if you are international you need to still do it if you are targetting US readership. Declare where you got the product you are reviewing, declare if you have any relationship with the company that produces them and you better damn declare if you receive any money for reviews. Picture copyright means you can’t just put any picture on your site… Keep Reading »

Tuesday Book Talk – Where have all the Blog Hop Memes gone?

Tuesday Book Talk – Where have all the Blog Hop Memes gone?

Well, as I’ve said, on a Tuesday, I will be posting book-related talk here on Scorching Book Reviews. This could be from me, an author, another blogger or a reader.  If you want to get involved, DM/email me 🙂 Today, you get to read stuff from me!! 🙂 I want to start with something that has been bugging me of late about blogging. Now, I’ve been blogging for around 8 years (I am an old timer in this game) and the landscape has changed dramatically. Some things I really enjoyed being part of are gone and the one thing I’m going to focus on is blog-hop memes.     Now, maybe I’m just missing them all but I can’t seem to find many outside of YA anymore and that saddens me. I love talking to fellow bloggers on twitter (I’m barred from FB as I’m not a real person :D) but it doesn’t necessarily mean I visit their site and see all the hard work they’ve put in. Blog Hop… Keep Reading »
