Leila: Hello, everyone, and thank you for coming out—ha ha, coming out, get it?—to support Scorching Book Reviews and their wonderful LGBT event! I’m here to talk with you about a wonderful new relationship that our friend, Anastasia Vitsky, has written about in her newest book titled Simple Gifts.
It was released on April 24th by LazyDay Publishing, and it’s already on the Amazon Top 100 books for lesbian romance! She has also written two other Top 100 books, The Way Home and Editorial Board plus Desire in Any Language, but our book is the best. Obviously. Mostly because our book is the first one that Anastasia wrote that shows the romance between two women, and may I say two rather sexy women…
Music. Without the love of her life, how can Leila learn to live again?
Professional violinist Leila Feran is accustomed to fame as the youngest and first female concertmaster of the Philharmonic Symphony. Driven to achieve ever-increasing heights, she injures her wrist so badly that she may no longer be able to play. While she recovers, she moves in with her childhood best friend, a pianist and beloved orchestra teacher in a small town.
Carene welcomes Leila with open arms and only one condition: no divas allowed. And if Leila can’t follow the house rules, she might find herself over Carene’s knee…or worse. In between arguments over physical therapy and house rules, Carene’s zero-tolerance policy regarding divas results in some old-fashioned discipline that changes into something more.
Will Leila and Carene’s new feelings for each other blossom into something wonderful? Or will Leila lose not just a potential soul mate, but also her friend?
Carene: Leila, do we have to talk about this in front of everyone? I’m a teacher! What if my orchestra students’ parents get upset? Our town isn’t that big, you know, and…
Leila: That’s my partner, Carene. Great teacher, great partner, and great lover. Oh, stop hitting me Carene. Don’t be such a prude. Your students were some of our biggest supporters when we came out as a couple. Although, come to think of it, I think they wondered why someone like me would be with someone like you. (Giggle.)
Carene, laughing: What did I say happened to divas in my house? You might be the concertmaster for the Philharmonic Symphony, and you may be the famous professional violinist Leila Feran to the outside world, but in my house you are…
Leila: Whoa, Carene, I thought you were the one who wanted to be careful what we said in public! Do you want everyone to know how you like to get kinky in…
Carene: I wasn’t going to talk about that! I meant that I would…that you…oh, Leila, you are impossible!
Leila: Which is why you love me so much, Ms. Moraghan. Admit it.
Carene: Honestly! Sometimes you still act like a bratty, pigtailed ten-year-old who’s too big for her britches.
Leila: Yes, but I’m your bratty, pigtailed ten-year-old. And you sure treated me as a ten-year-old when you insisted on doing everything for me. All your rules! Sheesh.
Carene: That’s different. You were injured, and your doctor said you had to take a rest. That’s why you came to live with me, remember?
Leila: Well, maybe, but don’t you think you went overboard? And you were the one who got mad when I kissed you for the first time.
Carene, blushing: Leila, we don’t have to tell everyone about that!
Leila: Or when you tumbled me in the closet and I laid you on the bed so we could…
Carene: Leila!!! I’m going to get fired if my principal sees this interview!
Leila: Mm, what’ll you do about that? Spank me?
Author’s note: I will give away a copy of Simple Gifts to one random commenter on today’s blog entry. Best of luck! Hope to hear from you.
