Sarah M. Anderson: Good afternoon and welcome to another episode of Meet The Men! Today we’re featuring a trio of Beaumonts—Chadwick, Phillip and Matthew! Welcome, gentlemen!
Chadwick Beaumont: (awkward pause) Hello.
Phillip Beaumont: (Leaning forward, grinning) Good afternoon. Ignore my older brother. I’m thrilled to be in the presence of such a lovely and talented woman. (Kisses my hand)
Matthew Beaumont: Um, yes—Phillip? Dial it back a little bit. (Smiles at Sarah) Ignore him. Thank you for having us.
SMA: (pulling hand away from Phillip) Yes, well. Let’s get started! You are all brothers, correct?
Chadwick: (awkward pause) Yes, that’s correct.
Phillip: We all share a father, it’s true. (looks at Matthew)
Matthew: (blushing) Yes, we are all Beaumonts.
SMA: Describe each other.
SMA: For example, Chadwick—how would you describe Matthew?
Chadwick: (shifting uncomfortably) Well, Matthew’s one of my trusted advisors in running the Brewery. He’s in charge of public relations and he’s very good at what he does. He keeps the peace.
Matthew: (blushing harder) Thank you.
SMA: And Matthew? How would you describe Phillip?
Chadwick: (muttering) Oh, Lord.
Matthew: (hesitates; tight smile) Phillip is a natural-born charmer who gets along with everyone he meets.
Phillip: (glances at Chadwick during Matthew’s statement and rolls his eyes) Plus, I’m lots of fun at parties! And before you ask, Chadwick is a hard working, dedicated man who is also a complete and total stick in the mud.
(Chadwick starts to stand, but Matthew pushes him back into his chair)
SMA: (nervously) Um, okay. So, let’s talk beer. You three are a part of the storied Beaumont Brewery. Tell us a little about that.
Chadwick: (looks at Matthew)
Matthew: (looks at Phillip)
Phillip: (smiles widely) I’m so glad you asked that question. One of the last family-owned breweries in America, the Beaumont Brewery was founded in 1888 right here in Denver, Colorado, by our many-times-over great grandfather, Phillippe Beaumont. He drove a team of Percheron draft horses across the Great Plains and those very same Percherons founded the line of Percherons that we breed out at the Beaumont Farms to this day. Our father, Hardwick Beaumont, brought the Brewery into the modern era and today, my esteemed older brother Chadwick runs a darned tight ship—don’t you, Chad?
Chadwick: (looks put-upon) I hate it when you call me that. But yes, that’s correct. I’m the CEO of the Beaumont Brewery. Matthew is a Vice President of Marketing and Phillip . . . (trails off, looks disdainful)
Phillip: (brightly) I run the Beaumont Farms, home to the Beaumont Percherons and some of the rarest horses in the world.
SMA: There seems to be a little tension in the room—do you all get along?
Chadwick: (blinks) Next question.
Matthew: (nervous smile) Of course. We’re family.
Phillip: (rakish grin) I enjoy spending time with everyone.
SMA: All…right. Moving on. Are any of you seeing anyone?
Chadwick: (scowling) I do not discuss my private life.
Phillip: No one in particular. (leans forward and smiles suggestively) I’d love to take you to dinner after we’re done here. I know a great place with a very private table where we can continue this conversation off the record.
Matthew: (fake smile) What was the next question?
SMA: (shuffling notes) Um . . . okay, how about this? Finish the following sentence: In high school, I was voted Most Likely To . . .
Phillip: (beaming widely) Why, I actually had several Most Likely Tos—Most Likely To Succeed, Most Likely To Be Famous, Most Likely To Be Rich . . . it was quite a list.
Chadwick: (muttering to Matthew) Who agreed to this interview? I thought you screened these better than this.
Matthew: (ignoring his brothers) Actually, I was also voted Most Likely To Succeed, but it was a different year than Phillip’s.
Phillip: I’m sure Chadwick was voted Most Likely to Take Over the World or something like that. Something dictatorial.
Chadwick: (groans) No. Most Likely To Succeed. There. Happy?
Phillip: Immensely so. (winks at Sarah) Beaumonts are a very successful family, you see. We are never second-best at anything. Whatever—whoever—we do, we do wholeheartedly.
SMA: Okay! On that note, let’s call it a day, gentlemen.
Chadwick: Thank God.
SMA: Tune in next time for more Meet The Men, which will happen shortly after I’ve recovered from this one. Good Night!
