Update on the S.P.A.M emails from the old blogger site

Posted in random musing / 6 Comments

Hi all

Well, I’ve been having a blooming nightmare. So, I found out this morning about the spam emails that were going to feedburner subscribers from the blogger blogsite. Turns out, someone else has taken over the page after I deleted it (I’m know, I’m sorry) and is using it to post garbage posts. Feedburner doesn’t recognise it is a different site and so it burning the posts and sending them to the email addresses on the original feedburner list. I cannot do anything about it… I am so sorry for the SPAM.

What you can do

Unsubscribe from the email using the link at the bottom. I know it’s a pain, I am truly sorry.

What I have learned and advice for future bloggers

If you decide to transfer blogs (which I recommend for more control over your content), don’t delete any old blogs. Just stick a holding post up and carry on. I knew someone could take the name but I underestimated what arseholes on the internet will do to annoy people. This is like when I lost the email domain name and then someone offered to sell it back to me for a massive markup.

Nix

  1. Yours isn’t the only one I get that that’s happened too. The other is in my RSS feed so it was an easy delete from there.

    • I honestly never even thought that would be a problem I’d face … some people need to do something more productive with their time! Sorry for clogging up your inbox!

  2. Arseholes are everywhere, ugh!

No worries, I just unsubscribed from the old blog. Interesting though, the spam email came from “scorchingbookreviews” all one word with a google address; where as, the current blog posts come from “Scorching Book Reviews” 3-words with a wordpress address.

Sorry you’re going through this. 🙁 Hang in there. 🙂

    • Thank you 🙂

Yeah, the emails seem to be coming through the google feedburner which doesn’t work on here so I couldn’t transfer it over. I never thought this would be an issue though as I assumed that any feeds would become inactive as soon as I deleted the site.

So sorry for clogging up your inbox 🙁
