He wants her. All of her.
NYPD sniper Matt Donovan is in Hell. Instead of driving his best friend’s little sister home from college, he’s stuck with her roommate—a fresh-faced ray-of-sunshine with a body that makes grown men weep. There’s no way he’ll allow himself to taint the little vixen, no matter how hard she tries to tempt him, so he resigns himself to the longest—and hardest—drive of his life.
Matt’s obvious attraction suits grad student Lucy Mason just fine. She had no idea her brother’s best friend was so deliciously hot. Knowing he’d never have his wicked way with his buddy’s sister, she lies about her identity and seduces him. But Matt’s no fumbling college boy. His desires run deep—and dark—and he wants to teach Lucy what wicked really means.
Matt’s demanding appetites only make Lucy want more. But when her cover's blown, he’s furious—even as his hunger for her becomes insatiable. Matt can’t trust anyone, least of all himself. And he knows all too well that darkness always destroys the light…

I love this series. I cannot believe that it comes to an end but oh what an end this book brings. Ms Bailey is definitely an author who has rapidly moved up my auto-buy list and I am excited to see what comes from her in the future.
This book starts with a lie. Releasing that she has no chance with Matt as his best-friends sister, Lucy tells a lie and becomes her best-friend to lure him into her bed. It works too, but it didn’t make me like her very much. I admired that she went for what she wanted but she could have caused irreparable damage to her brothers relationship and she cared little. I have to say that this attitude was not consistent with her during the rest of the story. This was a woman who was happy to site see on her own so she didn’t trouble her brother, who wanted to get a well paid job so she can support herself and who knew when to just give her silent support to a gruff man in need. The lie was a blip in her character but it had one shining positive side; it gave them a chance to be together. Their story is one in which two very different people find that they compliment each other in a very crucial way and end up having lots and lots of very hot sex … ’tis amazeballs! 🙂
Matt is another good example of a Bailey hero. He is hot, brooding and a hell of a dirty talker (seriously, if you want a dirty talking hero you have to try this series!). He has a kink that he thinks will make him unappealing though…. he is into being dominant in bed. He likes to spank his women and likes to tell them what to do ….. basically he’s a little bit bossy and it makes for some very steamy reading (all Ms Bailey’s books should come with free ice and electricity voucher for a cold shower). I wouldn’t call him a Dom, I wouldn’t say that this was a BDSM book but I will say that all his bossiness usually involves very kinky instructions that lead to some very hot sex. My favorite involves a very public place, a police uniform and only a blanket for cover *fans*
Their romance is a satisfying yet steamy one. I think that Tessa Bailey has upped the steam and emotional factor in this book, making it one of my favorites in the series. The barriers to their romance are real, the emotional turmoil that comes with them is real but alongside them is the emotional baggage that Matt carries as an ex-vet. The depth of emotion that is written into this book is fabulous, creating a romance that I believed in and was part of. Ms Bailey seamlessly mixes the genres of erotic romance and gritty contemporary, forming a book that I devoured in one sitting.
If you like dirty talking heroes engaging in even dirtier sex, try this book. If you have a fetish for men-in-uniform, try this book. If you want a really hot book with loads of angsty scenes, try this book. If, like me, you love this series, you’ll adore this book.
