A dangerous infatuation with a rough and ready man…

Erin Coffey has been a nurse for years, but nothing’s prepared her for the physical and emotional demands of her new position. Needing to move closer to her dysfunctional family, she takes a dangerous job at Larkhaven Psychiatric Hospital, where she quickly learns that she needs protection—and she meets the strong, over-confident coworker who’s more than willing to provide it.

Kelly Robak is the type of guy that Erin has sworn she’d never get involved with. She’s seen firsthand, via her mess of a sister, what chaos guys like him can bring into a woman’s life. But she finds herself drawn to him anyway, even when he shows up at her door, not eager to take no for an answer.

What Erin finds even more shocking than Kelly’s indecent proposal is how much she enjoys submitting to his every command. But he can’t play the tough guy indefinitely. If they want to have more than just an affair, both will have to open up and reveal what they truly need.

So, shameless cover whore that I am, I requested this book because of the man-titty. I’ve read this author’s other pen name before, but this was my first Cara McKenna book. It will not be my last! This book was full of hot smokin’ lovin’, a strong, slightly bitchy heroine and a dreamy man wearing an alpha-hole suit.
The set up was awesome. A nurse and an orderly from a psychiatric hospital hook up to relieve some stress in a very unusual romance story setting. They both had baggage, they both thought this would be casual and, of course, they both were god-damn wrong.  They had chemistry in heaps, my kindle nearly melting with the heat created by the words.  I really shouldn’t have started this one on a bus.
I thought Kelly was going to be an alpha-hole. He had all the makings of one with a strong, brooding personality and bad-boy persona. His first interaction outside of work with Erin was along the lines of a “me man, you woman who will serve me in any-way I want”. Yes, I’ll admit I got very happy at this point. Then he ruined it, showed he wasn’t a complete jack-ass and made me like him a whole lot more. I loved him from his alpha talk to his protective/possessive behaviour, his soft spot for his favourite patient and his filthy mouth in the bedroom. He is my favourite type of hero; the man who tries to talk big but is really a lovely man when you strip him down to his actions rather than his words.

“I got exes who might try to tell you I treated them like servants. They were fond of telling me as much, anyhow. But I work hard. I’ve got needs.”

Erin was brash, bitchy and fantastic. She moved to look after her self-destructive sister and nephew and ended up on the ward. From day one she liked the look of Kelly but it wasn’t until later on that she allowed him close enough to touch. I loved that she acted first and thought later, I loved that she was comfortable enough with her sexuality to allow Kelly to let go in the bedroom but, as much as I respected her idea of independence, it got in the way a lot of the time as it was the code she seemed to make all her decisions by. It was… annoying.
OK, the next part of the review is pure quotes. The sex scenes were panty melting hot and I think y’all need to read some of them yourselves.  Both characters were nothing but pure lust in these scenes and I got lost in them the way they got lost in each other. Kelly’s dialogue was swoon-worthy…I melted!

“Someday you’ll give yourself to me,” he said matter-of-factly. “Let me do what I want, do whatever I say.”
It would’ve been a pretty pompous announcement if I hadn’t suspected it was completely true.
“I’ll have you pleading for my cock.”

“When I say I want to possess a woman for a day, maybe a whole weekend, it’s like I’m inviting her to a dinner party. I’m making exactly the food I want, serving the drinks I like, planning everything. But she’s the guest. Just because I’m in charge doesn’t mean she won’t get a damn good meal.”

This is a must-read Erotic romance for me. It is a novella filled with pure, unapologetic lust and I was hooked from start to finish by its fantastic sex scenes and gripping characters. What are you waiting for…. go read it J
