This is a novella length erotic romance from Lauren Dane and I fricking LOVED it. The characters were larger than life and complicated, the story was sexy but ultimately sweet and overall it left me with a very satisfied feeling in my stomach.
Wren is the driving force in this tale and, like most of Lauren Dane’s novels, she is a strong heroine. Independent, witty and driven by her own ambition, she is a character I could relate to and like. She decided to go out and get Gregori, earning my respect, but she didn’t do it in a single white female kind of way. She just made herself visible to him and showed him her best qualities; I actually really enjoyed her way of thinking. She also accepted him for the artistic know-it-all that he was and dealt with the impending mood swings and arrogance in her stride, letting it all wash over her. She was a strong heroine because she valued herself more than she did any relationship that she might engage in; she was never going to let herself be broken by Gregori and my faith in that made me relax into their story and enjoy it.
Gregori was sexy in an over-bearinging arrogant arse kind of way. He really didn’t want to be in a relationship with anyone but he was really quite OK with sex if it came with no strings. I liked him but I enjoyed the way he was knocked on his ass by his feelings for Wren more. He did some fairly ridiculous things but he wasn’t a really a bad man; he was more lost in his own sense of artisticness. I did love him when it came to his encounters with Wren because, shockingly, the man is incredibly hot! The sex scenes were pure steamy, hotness and I needed a cold shower after them … *fans* It’s all rocky roads and passionate sex in this book…well, the hero is an artist ;D
This is a steamy novella with colourful characters who hooked me in from the second they were described on the page. One of the things I love the most about Lauren Dane’s work is her heroines and Wren is a woman after my own heart.
