Hi, all! I’m Abby and I write passionate, playful contemporary romance. It’s a privilege to share my love for all things romance with you and Scorching Book Reviews. Thanks for having me, Nix!
The trees swayed gently in the nighttime breeze, casting moving shadows over me and Mark. He bent down so his face was even with mine, his hazel eyes full of sweet wonder right before they closed, his lips inches from my own. I leaned into him…and giggled.
Yeah. That was the prelude to my first kiss. What can I say? I was 15 and on my first date. All my practical experience so far had come from romance novels.
The subtle vanilla imprinted on Riley’s brain like a duckling to its mother. He wanted to see if Ainsley’s lips tasted like she smelled. He wanted to know if her skin felt as soft as fleece. He wanted to run his fingers through her hair, to brush the silky strands that had caressed his cheek while they rode.
He touched her fingers and her heartbeat pulsed in her throat. He caressed her hand before gliding up her arm and confirming the softness of her skin. She could say no. She could stop him with a word or a look or a step away. Slowly he lowered his lips and she raised hers to meet him. He kissed her gently, softly, making sure this was what she wanted, too.
My current work in progress, Moonshine and Magnolias, has a lot of almost-kisses before Rob and Wendy finally get around to locking lips.
He met her halfway, not stopping until his hand was threaded in her hair and the other around her waist, and yanked her against him in the confines of the booth. His full lips lingered on hers, torturously slow, before forcefully demanding more. His kiss sent jolts of pleasure through her that settled low in her belly, fanning embers of heat that spread through her blood to her limbs.
As a side note – I’ve asked my husband why he never tells me that my kisses set his blood on fire. He tells me because that would hurt.
So practical, my hubby.
My favorite first kiss on TV is Luke and Lorelei from Gilmore Girls. After how many years, right? The leaning, the shortness of breath, the way they reach for each other. I watched it over and over on my VCR tape when it aired *mumble* *mumble* years ago. Now I can watch it on YouTube. (As can you!)!
I want to know all about your first kiss/the first kiss of your favorite fictional couple/your favorite kiss story. (I’m sparing y’all the one where the guy somehow managed to suck my lips into his mouth, and when I finally extracted them, there was a line of saliva connecting us. Needless to say, he didn’t get a second kiss.) (Okay, and maybe I’m not sparing you. I had to share the grossness.) I’ll pick a random commenter to win a $5 Amazon gift card. I’m also on Facebook a lot at www.facebook.com/AbigailSharpeRomance, or sign up for my newsletter at www.abigailsharpe.com – I’ll pick a winner from there, too.
When she’s not writing, she can be found wearing a corset and singing bawdy songs with Just Desserts, an a cappella musical comedy act, at places that won’t throw them out.
Abigail lives with her husband, two kids, and one crazy princess puppy. You can keep up with her on Goodreads or on Facebook at www.Facebook.com/AbigailSharpeBooks or on her website – www.abigailsharpe.com.
