Today, I am lucky enough to introduce Cage, hero from Bitten Under Fire by Heather Long, in this wonderful character interview. This interview is set after the book, in which a Werewolf army boy falls in love with his assignment. Enjoy readers – I did.
Q : Tell me about your yourself. What will make me want to read your story?
ANS : I’m a sergeant in the Marines and devoted to my pack, my unit, and my country. This mission is a turning point for me—a make it or break it. I come across as the easy going guy, the guy who likes to laugh, but I am more committed than ever to delivering my best.
Q : If you had to describe yourself in 3 words, what would they be?
ANS: Son. Wolf. Friend.
Q : Tell me about Bravo Team Wolf. What makes you guys good at what you do?
ANS : This is classified top secret, right? The team is need to know…oh, you do need to know? Okay. We’re a specialized unit, hand-picked by our Alphas to serve. Most of us—all of us volunteered for the privilege. We never leave anyone behind and we’ve had a 100% success rate on our missions because we bring our enhanced senses to the field and we train all the time in both human and wolf forms—sometimes splitting our time between the two. We can get into and out of places a lot of people can’t dream of achieving. Being a shifter gives us an edge and we apply maximum effort to keep it.
Q : Is is hard to keep your shifter side a secret in such a high pressure line of work?
ANS : Yes, but nothing worth doing is ever easy. The team knows, and now a select few humans are aware. We can’t leave any witnesses behind, but the types of missions we do mean we just have to think ahead, plan for the unexpected and roll with the punches.
Q: Tell me about Bianca. What was your first impression of her?
ANS : Fierce. Absolutely fierce. Even in the middle of what had to be a hellish situation for her, she didn’t stop fighting or putting herself on the line. Fierce. Beautiful, too.
Q : Did you always know that you and she would end up together?
ANS : No. Blind as a scent dumbed dog as my abuela would say, but I thought I just needed to make sure she was okay. If I were lucky, the change wouldn’t take her and I could get my ass back on base and back to work. Romance was not the first thing I had in mind.
Q : What would the tag-line to your romance be?
ANS : Thank God accidents happen.
Bianca Devlin’s work is her life. Now, she’s finally taking a vacation…and guerillas hit her resort to kidnap a diplomat’s son. She does the only thing that makes sense—intervene to save the child’s life. Being dragged into the jungle with a scared kid she’s determined to protect was definitely not how she saw this trip ending.
After she returns to Texas, the last person Bianca expected to see was Sergeant Carlos “Cage” Castillo, the member of Bravo Team WOLF that helped rescue her. Nevertheless, there he is, living across the street from the house she just bought. The coincidence is alarming, but she has to admit, his presence isn’t entirely unwanted.
But there’s something off about Cage—the way he can move without a sound or the weird way his eyes seem to almost glow at times. And how can Bianca manage her growing attraction, when everything she knows about him and his reason for being there, turns out to be a lie?

Thanks for the post, I love shifter books.
