LGBT Day 10 : Kaleidoscope Fiction by Dani Worth (Incl Giveaway)

My books are unapologetically erotic fantasy. I’m not talking about the fantasy genre, though there are aspects of that in the Kithran Regenesis series–mostly in reference to the alien species, Replicants. The fantasy I’m talking about is of the idealized sort—the kind of improbable setting you can only dream about. Or hope for. 😉 These aren’t hard science fiction books, they’re fun, sexy space opera-like stories with hopefully enough emotion to keep readers interested. A lot of my aliens are humanoid. Some believe they originated from the same place humans came from. Some of my alien species can even choose to change gender whenever they feel like it. Some are a bit dangerous and a human would have to be truly in love with them and be willing to change their lives to form a relationship.

But in my Kithran Regenesis books, I’ve created a world where being bisexual is pretty much the norm. Yes, there are also people who are straight or gay. There are some who are into polyamorous relationships and some who choose monogamous ones.

The fantasy? All loving, consensual relationships are accepted. There is very little prejudice about how families are built. It’s the way I wish our world could be. But until it is, I’m having fun making my own rules. And sharing them with readers.

Another recurrent idealized theme in my books (Both in the Kithran Regenesis and Crux Survivors series.) is having a character discover a novel way to love. I like to write about people who learn something new about themselves, ones who fall in love with someone even when they’ve never been attracted to a person of their own sex. Quite a few readers are very vocal about how unrealistic this can be. I see people put down the “gay for you” stories and I freely admit those are some of my favorites. What can I say? I’m still a hopeful romantic. And yeah, I used hopeful on purpose.

For me, the best books are well-written romances that make me feel something–make me believe this man is looking at another in a new way because there is something about this person that appeals to him on a basic level.

A good writer can take that and run with it—give me a wonderful, romantic fantasy to read. My fiction doesn’t have to be black or white. I like lots of colors. A character could have been gay all along and is just discovering it, or he or she can be falling in love in a different and surprising way and that journey of discovery—that story–is why I’m there. The whole new experience and accepting who you are or who you become, when done well, turns a book into one of my comfort rereads.

So, I love writing in my Kithran Regenesis world. When I wrote the first one, I hadn’t actually planned to lengthen and deepen the story. I was trying my hand at writing an erotic novella with an emotional connection between the characters. But I’d created this planet Kithra and after I was done with the first novella, I realized I wanted to know more about it. I wanted to know more about the Gwinarians and I wanted to find out why Kithra had been destroyed. And I really wanted to spend more time in a world where a ménage relationship was actually more common than not. These are challenging and seriously fun to write. The fourth book, ORIGIN, just released Tuesday. I introduced Captain Clay and Anders in the third book, CATALYST, and loved them so much, I gave them their own story. They have such chemistry. It’s a friendship, yet it’s more. So when they stumble upon Siri, she changes their world. Siri is a smart, strong Gwinarian woman, who’s been living a life not of her choosing. Clay and Anders see that she’s a fighter right away—she’d have to be after surviving fourteen years as a slave. ORIGIN is a book about smart-mouthed space pirates who are working hard to right what was done to the planet Kithra, but it’s also a story of three people who are finding their way together. And that journey just happens to be pretty sexy. 😉 ORIGIN can be read as a standalone book, though you’ll get to meet all the characters from the previous Kithran volumes.

Dani is giving away a complete eSet of the Kithran series to one lucky commenter!

About the Author

I currently have two erotic novella series with Samhain Publishing! The Kithran Regenesis is erotic space opera, mostly menage. Crux Survivors is erotic post-apocalyptic, some menage and some not. I love to explore the boundaries of new worlds, love, desire or anything else that strikes my fancy. Good stories make life fun. Some of my stories will have pairs and some will have three–Love is Love. 🙂

I’ve lived in some crazy places but currently reside in Oklahoma and I’m represented by Miriam Kriss of the Irene Goodman Agency.

  1. I love fantasy! Sometimes I just want to escape into a book where the hero always wins, the women are beautiful and I don’t have to worry about reality snatching me away. I love the idea of a Bi world where they are free to be with whoever their hearts desire…. to bad that’s part of the fantasy. 🙁

I like Sci-Fi but I’ve never really tried menage. It seems popular so maybe….I might be surprised.
