Sometimes I feel like the worst blogger in the world. I look back over the last few months and all I can see is Top Pick Posts and Memes …. I just haven’t managed to get back into blogging like I thought but I think that’s because of one thing; I stopped reading new authors.
When I look through my kindle, I’ve got around 2000 books. I haven’t read them all (seriously, I do need to sort that out) because I have an awful reading habit; I like to comfort read.
When the world is miserable and stressful, I turn to comfort reads. If I DNF a book, I turn to comfort reads. Sometimes, I just want to comfort read!
In the last 3 months, I’ve reread all the Jill Shalvis Lucky Harbor series, all of the Psy-Changeling series by Nalini Singh, all of the Faith Hunter Jane Yellowrock series and all of the Ilona Andrews Kate Daniels series. Once I start comfort reading, I just can’t stop! These books make me feel happy and I love the safety of knowing what will happen to the characters I adore … I’m the same with films! (DH can walk into While You Were Sleeping at any point and knows what it is immediately).
The problem with being a blogger stuck in a reread rut is that I have nothing left to review. You’ve all read the reviews already ladies and gents; I’ve read/reviewed/raved about these books for the last 8 years 🙂
So, my lovely readers, who stick with me no matter what, I’ve made myself a vow. I will try at least one new book a week and at least one new author once a fortnight. I know this doesn’t seem like a lot but it’s a starting point right???
I’ve done well this week … I’ve read a new author (Kristen Ashley) and a new series (Soul Wood by Faith Hunter) but what else should I read? What are your comfort reads?
