Musing Post : Stress, Real Life and the Book Blogging Blues…

Posted July 17, 2015 by Nix in Random musings / 5 Comments

This is pretty much an apology post.

Over the last month, I have been a shitty book blogger. The blog has mainly been Top Picks, Hot Cover and nothing else. I’m sorry readers, I promise I will do better.

Over the last couple of months, real life has gotten a little bit stressful. I’m organizing a wedding, my paying job has decided to suck donkey balls and I barely have enough time to clean my house (seriously, my house is a dump). I have had no time to review and, quite honestly, I’ve not had the will. Yes, the stress of real life has given me a case of the blogging blues and I have had to literally force myself to do anything. I think this happens from time to time with everyone but, being the solo blogger on Scorching Book Reviews now, it is more apparent when I do as the entire site is silent.

This is not a whiny post though because things are calming down. I will have time to review all the wonderful books I’ve read (I haven’t lost the will to read, just review!), I will have time to sit down and plan and I’m looking forward to it. I’m looking forward to the sex scene event too … it’s my favorite event!

So thank you readers for standing by the blog even when the content has been limited. I promise I will do better 🙂

  1. It’ll get better. Life has no sense of proportionality, but it can only keep that up for so long. (Wanna know a secret? Paper plates and plastic cutlery are your friends. They’re certainly mine this summer.)

Also looking forward to getting kicked out in the first round of the Sex Scene Championship. I won’t go down without a fight, though. 🙂

  2. Nix, boy can I relate to that feeling. We just bought a house, sold a house, moved, all with the regular continuing stuff of work, kids, etc. It was the first time I ever lost my energy for writing every day, but it is coming back. I hope your steam returns soon too!

Your blog has so much going for it in design and content that I always enjoy stopping by. You did a huge event with the GLBT month that must have taken tremendous time and energy. So cut yourself some slack. Whether you post a little or a lot each week, SBR is a rewarding stop on my regular visit to the best book blogs online. I hope you never burn out so we fans can continue to find the good stuff here.
