Top Picks is a weekly meme that we do here at Scorching Book Reviews. In this post, we highlight the Romance books that we want to read that are released this week. They are books on our TR pile and only books we are interested in spending money on.
This week is a little odd. There are so many releases that are book 8/9 in the series it is actually surprising. I am not highlighting books that far down the series; I can’t even fathom how to start! Instead, I’ve gone for books that caught my eyes but the majority are new to me.
This week’s Top Picks are…
Status on TR list: This looks right up my street. I’ve pre-ordered (at £2, it’s a bargain!) and this author is new-to-me.
Two decades ago when a magical war nearly destroyed all societies, those with supernatural gifts emerged from the shadows to help save the humans. Yet despite their contributions, the Magic Users are still treated like second-class citizens, being forced to register like criminals and monitored by traitors to their own kind.
As a necromancer hiding her talents, Cressa struggles to raise enough money to free her mother from the Reformatory, a place far worse than prison. With a brother who’s working against her and graduation on the line, Cressa finds it difficult to follow the laws of her world. And when the alluring Noah enters her life with an opportunity to take back what is hers, she can’t resist the temptation to break all of the rules. Even her own.
But Noah’s intentions are not clear, and his own mysterious background lands Cressa in the middle of a supernatural battle she hadn’t bargained for. He has plans of his own, and whether or not Cressa fits into them, is a question she must answer alone. Preferably before her heart makes that decision for her.
Status on the TR List : Pre-ordered! Trope I love, author I’ve enjoyed before …. I’m in!
1.Get over my best friend’s brother.
2.Remember that I’m over him.
3.Prove I can date other people.
It should be easy.
Setting up a dating website with the guy I’ve been in love with since I was five wasn’t my smartest idea.
Especially since he’s my best friend’s brother—thankfully, she’s okay with the fact I’m pulling a Sandy and I’m hopelessly devoted to him.
Which is why it’s time to get over him.
So I do something crazy and ask Dominic Austin to find me a date. He does—if I find him one, too.
Since we own Stupid Cupid, it should be easy, right? And it is.
My date is perfect. His date is perfect. Everything is perfect.
Until he kisses me…
And a big-ass mess…
Status on TR list : CHEF HERO ALERT! I’m in 🙂
Secret Service Agent Griffin Keller always gets his man. And his woman. In pursuit of an international counterfeiter known only as “The Artist”, Griffin stumbles across paintings stolen from the White House and swapped with forgeries. His only clue to the thief’s identity–a dish towel from the White House kitchen.
White House pastry chef Marin Chevalier desperately needs a date to her cousin’s society wedding. Unfortunately, her busy schedule leaves her little opportunity to meet eligible men. When a sexy Secret Service agent shows up in her kitchen—and just about everywhere else she goes—Marin believes she’s finally met the perfect date. But when a series of frightening accidents and near misses plague her, Marin must rely on Griffin as more than just her “plus-one.”
As dead bodies begin to pile up around Marin, Griffin is convinced she’s the link to The Artist. Too bad the curvy chef has gotten under his skin like no other woman. When the clues finally fall into place and Griffin realizes Marin is not the suspect, but instead the target, he’ll risk everything in his arsenal to keep her safe.
Status on TR list: I’ve never heard of this author but how gorgeous is this cover?? FF BDSM is a genre I’ve enjoyed before .. on the list.
