New Romance Releases

Top Picks is a weekly meme that we do here at Scorching Book Reviews. In this post, I highlight the Romance books that I want to read that are released this week.

They are all books on my TR pile and only books we are interested in spending money on. I do not ask people to recommend books or highlight releases for author promo.

I feel I have to point out that books in a series are only going to be featured on here if I have started the series. I can’t recommend a series at book 14 when I haven’t read the others. I also don’t read NA…

Also, the design of the site is in progress  … Please be patient!

One Christmas Eve (Cedar Street Book 2) by [Stacey, Shannon]

Status on the TR List : I adored the first in the series – it reminds me of early Shannon Stacey

They couldn’t be more different. Or more perfect for each other.

New York Times bestselling author Shannon Stacey returns with a warm and cozy opposites-attract Christmas story.

Zoe Randall is busy living her life as she damn well pleases. She’s back in her favorite town, her divorce in her rearview mirror, and living out her childhood dream of running a bookstore with her cousin. She has no interest in the uptight nerd who opened his boring-ass business next to her shop…until he complains about one of her sexy window displays.

Then it’s game on.

Preston Wheeler knows he takes life a little too seriously. But when the saucy bookseller next door starts pushing his buttons, he can feel that changing. Beautiful, vivacious Zoe challenges him in all the best ways, and soon he’s pushing her buttons right back: teasing and flirting all the way through the holiday season.

As Preston loosens up and Zoe is treated to the man behind the suit (particularly his forearms), she realizes she’s more interested than she cares to admit. And Preston comes to see the beauty—the absolute delight—in adding Zoe’s bright splashes of color to his once very black-and-white existence.

A Second Chance Road Trip for Christmas (Holidays with the Wongs Book 2) by [Lau, Jackie]

Status on the TR list : On the list. I really enjoyed the first in the series and have a lot of other books from Jackie Lau …. I do love a xmas romance!

Greg Wong hates when things don’t go according to plan, so he definitely doesn’t appreciate it when his mother insists he drive Tasha Edwards back to Mosquito Bay for the Christmas holidays. He likes peace and quiet when he’s in the car, and that’s the opposite of what he’ll get with Tasha, his high school sweetheart. The first woman he ever loved.

Not that he has feelings for her now. Of course not. Though while he’s trying not to smile at her laughter and terrible singing, he can’t help noticing how beautiful she is.

And then his plans veer further off course when a snowstorm forces them to spend the night in an unheated motel room with only one bed…

Open House (Uptown Book 2) by [Lang, Ruby]

Status on TR List : I have heard nothing but GREAT things about this book … I love the premise and Ruby Lang books always work for me. On the list.

Love can take root where you least expect it.

Tyson Yang never imagined that one day he’d be the de facto spokesperson for an illegal community garden. But when the once-rat-infested-but-now-thriving Harlem lot goes up for sale, Ty can’t just let all their hard work get plowed under.

Even if he is irresistibly drawn to the lovely but infuriatingly stubborn real estate associate.

Magda Ferrer’s family is already convinced this new job will be yet another flop in her small but growing list of career path failures. But her student debt isn’t going anywhere, and selling her uncle’s historic town house and the lot nearby means a chance to get some breathing room.

Ty is her charming rival, her incorrigible nemesis, the handsome roadblock to her success.

Until one hot Harlem night blurs the hard line drawn between them, and the seeds of possibility in this rocky garden blossom into love…

An Island Wedding: A Heart of Fame Reunion Story by [Couper, Lexxie]

Status on the TR List :  I love this series and I had NO IDEA there was a new book … I have pre-ordered.

It all started with Rock-God, Nick Blackthorne…

Heart of Fame Reunion Story

After many years, rock star Josh Blackthorne is finally marrying the woman he loves on the tropical island resort of Bandicoot Cove.

The guest list is small but insanely famous—Hollywood stars, rock stars, a legitimate Britsh knight, international sport stars—and deeply intimate. Yes, this wedding is going to shake the world.

And then the father of the groom, in typical Nick Blackthorne style, goes and does something no-one could have predicted…

Get ready for the looooooong-overdue Heart of Fame reunion…just in time for Christmas.

Not the Girl You Marry by [Christopher, Andie J.]

Status on the TR List : I love the premise and I have very good opinions on the author – on the list.

“NOT THE GIRL YOU MARRY is funny, heartfelt, and super sexy!”—Jasmine Guillory, New York Times bestselling author

How To Lose a Guy in 10 Days gets a millennial makeover in this romantic comedy by USA Today bestselling author Andie J. Christopher.

Jack Nolan is a gentleman, a journalist, and unlucky in love. His viral success has pigeon-holed him as the how-to guy for a buzzy, internet media company instead of covering hard-hitting politics. Fed up with his fluffy articles and the app-based dating scene as well, he strikes a deal with his boss to write a final piece de resistance: How to Lose a Girl. Easier said than done when the girl he meets is Hannah Mayfield, and he’s not sure he wants her to dump him.

Hannah is an extremely successful event planner who’s focused on climbing the career ladder. Her firm is one of the most prestigious in the city, and she’s determined to secure her next promotion. But Hannah has a bit of an image problem. She needs to show her boss that she has range, including planning dreaded, romantic weddings. Enter Jack. He’s the perfect man to date for a couple weeks to prove to her boss that she’s not scared of feelings.

Before Jack and Hannah know it, their fake relationship starts to feel all too real—and neither of them can stand to lose each other.
