Heat Level – 4/5. Lots of sex scenes on page.
Author-Style – Third person, past tense POV with dreamy heroes and strong heroines. I do enjoy her author voice.

Plot – 3/5. This is the finale of the Rocky Mountain Series. There were bits I loved, bits I needed to read (that I didn’t really like) and a whole host of Alpha-males being asshats and losing my respect. Honestly, I think this book ruined the others for me because I’m not sure I can read Theo’s again without remembering he is literally a prize arse in this book.
So, what happens? Well, I was very excited that the K9 cop that we get to meet in this book is female. She is strong, kick-ass and her dog is adorable. She is also treated horribly by almost everyone else in this book (under the pretence of keeping “the secret”) apart from the local fire spotter Wes, her leading man. Wes is a nerdy, sexy loner who is absolutely adorable with Kit. I loved that he never questioned her, always believed her and was just lovely.
Kit arrives in town as an arsonist strikes. She seems to be the only one that is concerned and, in spite of the indifference and apparent ineptitude of her fellow cops, she starts to investigate a series of crimes that lead her deep into the secrets of the towns residents. The only person who seems to believe her in the towns fire spotter, Wes. Together, they hope to stop the arsonist before they hurt anybody else.
Do not read this book without the rest of series – it is not a standalone.
Heroine –5/5. Kit is a strong heroine who is not made to feel welcome by her fellow officers. At all. She could have let it defeat her but instead she pushes through and starts to build a career and a life in spite of their jack-off ways. I adored her spirit and her strength of character.
Hero – 5/5. Wes is an amazing hero. Socially awkward, he struggles to build the relationship with Kit but he tries so hard. He is a generous, gentle hero who made me smile from start to finish – I loved all of his interactions with the rest of the characters in the book (wasn’t such a fan of the way that they treated him).
Romance – 5/5. Honestly, it was a wonderful love story.
Cover – The cover has feck all to do with the story. The K9 officer is female and the hero is not in the slightest military/police like … it does not sum up the story in any way and actually is confusing.
Re-Read? – Yes. But only as a skim read focusing on the romance.
Favourite Part – I think my favourite parts were the interactions between Kit and Wes. There was so much gentle humour in this slow burn romance that I read most of it with a smile on my face. I wanted them to succeed – their initial meeting was my favourite part in the whole book.
What didn’t work for me? – There are two major parts that didn’t work for me. The first is the actions of the other characters within the book. I loved Theo, Otto and Hugh as the heroes in their own books but they were arseholes in this book. They isolated Kit and were incredibly unhelpful throughout. I thought less of them from this book which is a bloody shame. I also hated the bad-guy and their motivation. It was all going so well until the big reveal and then it jut fell flat for me.
