Romance book preview post : Top Picks of the upcoming romance books (19th March 2023)

Welcome to Top Picks. This is a weekly post which features books out this week which have caught my eye.

I have decided to split the list into three; On my List, On my Radar and Caught My eye. The first is those I have every intention of reading. On my Radar feautures books that I have marked on a wishlist, possibly as I am awaiting a price drop or am not up to that book in the series. The last are more one’s I know next to nothing about but have caught my eye for some reason. All books are one’s which I would potentially read.

As always, I do my due diligence on all books I put on here. I don’t recommend books from authors who I know have engaged in awful behaviour or have bigotted views – I chose not to give them my money so you won’t find them on here. If I make a mistake and feature an author who has engaged in bad behaviour, tell me in the comments and the book will be removed.

I don’t read NA. I do not read reverse harem. I also do not read Pandemic romance. I also do not read mafia romance. I also do not read age play romance. Those books will not feature here.

Due to issues with prices, I will no longer be posting RRP’s of these books – the prices I post seem to be accurate for a day so I feel it is completely pointless.

I adore Farah Heron’s writing – this one is on KU so, if you haven’t read work from this author before, try this.

An “it” couple’s breakup becomes a sporting event in a deliciously charming novel about the games people play in the name of love.

First, math genius and gamer-nerd Samaya gets dumped by her boyfriend. Then he sabotages her job and hooks up with her frenemy. What could be worse? Clearly, her golden-boy ex is winning the breakup. The only way Samaya can get some rebound cred is to find someone new. Even if she has to fake it.

At a volunteer bake sale, Samaya meets a sweet opportunity. Daniel is a handsome hockey jock and a whiz when it comes to lemon squares and brownies. And he agrees to play along. Quid pro quo. He’ll pretend to be the boyfriend of her dreams if Samaya helps him pass calculus.

This may well be the recipe for the best revenge, but Samaya has no idea how complicated it will get. As they whip up an imitation romance, and a bumbleberry pie, resisting each other’s very real charms proves impossible. Samaya finds herself on an unexpected journey of secrets, self-discovery, and the true meaning of moving on.

I am a long time fan of Kelly Jamieson. On the list.

Marco Solis
I know if I get too close to people, they disappear. My parents were deported back to Mexico when I was fourteen, my fiancée married someone else while I was in the military, and now my business partner’s spending more time with his girl than with me. For better or worse, that’s how I meet Carrie Garner. She’s legitimately model-hot and way out of my league, and I clearly annoy her. Yeah, I like to push her buttons . . . in an up-against-the-wall, hard-and-fast kind of way.

Carrie Garner
I may be a natural in front of the camera, but my dream is to make it as a photographer. Soon I’ll be heading to Spain to art school. I’ll miss the wacky family I spend all my time looking after, my best friend Hayden, and I’ll even miss Hayden’s boyfriend, Beck—but I won’t miss Beck’s partner, Marco. Bossy, brooding, and annoyingly sexy, he keeps reminding me that all anyone sees in me is a pretty face. I want to be so much more than that. But as I get to know Marco better leaving for Spain doesn’t seem so appealing . . . but I have to prove myself . .

I really enjoy Kate Pearce and this is cowboys – I am always in for a cowboy story.

Barely thirty and already washed up, rodeo cowboy Jay Turner has nothing to show for his twelve-year career except a few gold buckles and a busted-up knee. The very last thing he needs is career advice from his orthopedic surgeon, a chilly woman who has obviously never been thrown off a bucking bronco. Instead, Jay decides to lasso the beautiful lady doc with an intimate proposition.

Dr. Helen Kinsale’s own fast-track career is hanging by a thread as past mistakes and her ex-husband threaten her professional reputation. When Jay offers a no-holds-barred affair, she eagerly accepts the escape from her narrow little world. But the affair quickly turns into something else as they discover a dark sexual compatibility that leads them into new erotic situations and extreme sensations.

So, some of these books have pushed it a little to far but I think I would be OK with this one…. well, I will see.

He’s not just rich…he’s filthy rich.

When I started working at Salacious Players’ Club, I never expected to end up on the auction block ready to grant a date to the highest bidder.

This club is not really my scene. I’m not the kind of girl rich guys take home. I’m more a piano playing, van-living, free spirit kind of girl.

So when Ronan Kade, the richest man at the club, puts down over a hundred grand for my time, how can I tell him no?

But he’s too old. Too rich. Too cocky.

And oh yeah…he once dated my mother.

Except he doesn’t know that. He has no idea who I am.

One date turns into a trip to Paris. And an offer to live with him in his penthouse. Then a promise to take care of me.

Before I know it, I’m calling this silver fox my daddy.

Ronan Kade only bid on one date, but I think he’s winning much more than that.

Can we overcome the years between us to find happiness?

And will he find it in him to forgive me when he learns the secret I’ve been keeping?

I mean…. it’s a geek story! I am so in. If I could pre-order it I would but it’s KU.

A PhD student who wants a recommendation, a scientist who needs an assistant, and a new product that will change people’s lives…if the two don’t kill each other first.

I, Sophie Carson, put my PhD in biochemistry on hold for my ex-husband. Now, nothing will stop me from getting what I want. That’s why I’m accepting a gig as an assistant at a pharmaceutical company to earn points with my university and gain valuable experience. A win-win, right?

Only my new boss, Dr. Max Goodall, turns out to be the gorgeous guy with a panty-melting British accent I danced with and kissed at a club. The worst part? He doesn’t remember me. Okay, I downplay my looks at work, but still…

Now, we’re stuck working together. Max is smart and sexy, but we clash over everything. And I mean everything. That doesn’t stop our chemistry from growing…exponentially.

We can’t react.

After my analysis, he’ll be poised for greatness, and I’ll get a glowing recommendation. How hard can ignoring our attraction and focusing only on the data be?

Hypothesis for Love is the first book in the Romancing the Geek series, a new steamy rom-com series set at a pharmaceutical company in Seattle, Washington. It features the enemies-to-lovers trope between a smart heroine who’s done with men, and her sexy, nerdy scientist boss, who needs his project to succeed…or he’ll be looking for a new job.
