Romance Preview Post 2022 Week 1 : Top Pick of the Weeks New Romance eBooks

Posted January 3, 2022 by Nix in Top Picks / 1 Comment

Welcome to Top Picks. This is a weekly post which features books out this week which have caught my eye.

Some changes going forwards on this post as you will see from below. It is no secret that I am on a bit of a reading drought so some of the newer authors are not on my radar. I have decided to split the list into three; On my List, On my Radar and Caught My eye. The first is those I have every intention of reading. On my Radar feautues books that I have marked on a wishlist, possibly as I am awaiting a price drop or am not up to that book in the series. The last are more one’s I know next to nothing about but have caught my eye for some reason. All books are one’s which I would potentially read.

As always, I do my due diligence on all books I put on here. I don’t recommend books from authors who I know have engaged in awful behaviour or have bigotted views – I chose not to give them my money so you won’t find them on here. If I make a mistake and feature an author who has engaged in bad behaviour, tell me in the comments and the book will be removed.

I don’t read NA. I do not read reverse harem. I also do not read Pandemic romance. Those books will not feature here.

Due to issues with prices, I will no longer be posting RRP’s of these books – the prices I post seem to be accurate for a day so I feel it is completely pointless. I also won’t be posting links to amazon anymore.

Dad Bod Rockstar: Dad Bod Series - Men Built for Comfort by [Melissa Schroeder]

A road-weary rockstar finds love with a small town baker, but will his fame destroy the one woman he has ever loved?

A lot of people look at my life and think I have it all. Multiple platinum records, more money than I know what to do with, and a seemingly never ending string of women. Everyone thinks they know me, but very few do. I’m ready to settle down, but most women see the rockstar and not the man.

Until Blossom.

She’s way too young for me, and so innocent I’m embarrassed by my infatuation. But the moment I meet her, I’m in love. I only have a couple days with her before I have to be back on the road, so I fill them with as much romance as I can and I promise to get back to her.

I’ve led a sheltered life. All I have ever wanted was to be a baker. I spent my early twenties building my reputation, and the past two years running my own small town bakery. I’m over the moon at my success, still there has been something missing.

Then in walks Niall Holden, my celebrity crush.

He loves my baking, and insists on taking me to dinner. We spend two glorious nights together because he has to be back on the road. He promises he will return as soon as his tour is done. I want to believe in happily ever after, but stories in the tabloids make me realize I’m not cut out for this kind of relationship.

Only Niall doesn’t agree, and when he shows up in my small town again, he insists that I am the woman for him. That may be true, but does he just want me…or will he want us?

This story is an age gap, small town, surprise baby romance set in Melissa Schroeder’s Instalove World. It includes a grumpy but totally sweet rockstar, an adorkable baker with a quirky way of looking at the world, cupcakes and cookies, and the antics of the Patton brothers and their wives from The Dominon Rockstar Romance series. There is no cheating, an HEA, and can be read as a stand-alone.

Bridge of Love: A Speak No Evil Novella by [Nana Malone]

I’m the black hearted prince of Eton College, and she’s the unapologetic fireball who could eviscerate me…

My best mate’s sister.

My secret weakness.

Don’t look.

Don’t covet.

And sure as hell don’t touch.

I’ve never been a rule breaker… until Emma Varma.

(Prequel novella to the Speak No Evil Trilogy)

Necromancer Abbey (Souls and Shadows Book 3) by [Adrienne Blake]

The dead don’t talk…and if they do, Cat Moreland isn’t supposed to listen.

Cat’s inherited dark magic is getting stronger every day, as is her desire to embrace her true self. As she comes of age, the ghostly whispers she shouldn’t hear grow louder along with her parent’s fears.

That’s when fate brings Sylvia into her life, an understanding witch that knows Cat’s true power—as a necromancer. Sylvia offers her a position at her magic shop in New York where, under the tutelage of a master necromancer, Cat can safely develop her skills.

While in New York, Cat meets the handsome Henry Tilney, who becomes her mentor and friend. She harbors a secret love for him and is delighted when he invites her to his family’s mysterious mansion, Northanger Abbey. The abbey exists in the heart of New York but remains hidden from the eyes of mortals.

At the Abbey, Cat encounters Henry’s sister and their disapproving father, but her growing power accidentally exposes the Tilneys’ carefully guarded secrets, threatening Cat’s blossoming relationship with Henry and ultimately her future happiness.

Perfect for fans of Maria Grace’s Netherfield: Rogue Dragon: A Pride and Prejudice Variation and Erin Sterling’s The Ex Hex.

The O Zone (Bears Hockey II) by [Kelly Jamieson]

Owen Cook

I have one goal: To be the best hockey player I can be. I’m not going to waste the opportunity I have. All my focus is on hockey. I avoid distractions like women and relationships during the hockey season, but when a quirky subway busker asks me out on a fake date, somehow I’m intrigued enough to accept.

Emerie Ross

I gave up my music dreams to look after my half-sister. I don’t want her to feel as alone and neglected as I did after our mother died. But my ex-boyfriend is still trying to win me back and now my stepfather is helping him. Gah! I’d rather drink bleach than marry Roman Moretti. If they think I’m involved with someone else, maybe they’ll give up on that idea. All I need is a man…a date for a party.

When Emerie introduces me to her wicked stepfather (ha) I realize I’ve made a huge mistake. He’s my boss—the man who owns the team I play for. And he’s not happy to see me with Emerie. Can you say career ending move?

Oops. I hate hockey. How was I supposed to know who Owen is? How are we going to keep Vince from trading him away? How am I going to make sure I stay happily un-married? We’re going to have to keep up this pretense even if it means me going to hockey games. Ugh. Even if it means disrupting Owen’s rigid routines. Even if it means everything gets a lot more complicated…

Dad Bod Bestie: Dad Bod - Men Built For Comfort by [Ja'Nese Dixon]

This isn’t a fairytale. He’s not my dream man and I’m not his curvy princess.

I’m not a damsel waiting for a man to save me.

Yet, that’s how I met Jonathan. I’m used to corporate dudes with portfolios and sickening six-packs. Not a man still finding himself and that covers me like a cozy blanket.

Jon’s not a rich guy trying to wine and dine me.

But he cooks at Southern Soul Raleigh for a living. And for the record, he isn’t my type. Yet I find myself looking forward to the next time I’ll see him again.

Jonathan Montgomery just is.

Big smile.

Bigger heart.

The absolute best laugh.

Bestie material. Someone to kick it with while I explore Raleigh.

No…he’s not that either. He’s something more.

Jon’s the man that has me questioning my decisions. Where I’ll live? What my future looks like? Does it include him?

This. Isn’t. Love.

Can’t. Be.

I need a man with a plan, a savings account, a house. This situation has caution stamped all over it and like a fool, I let him in. And I’m not a betting woman but everything about this man has me wondering…

What if?
