Top Picks is a weekly meme that we do here at Scorching Book Reviews. In this post we highlight the books that we want to read that are released this week. They are books on our TR pile and only books we are interested in spending money on.
Status on TR list : I love Tibby and her writing. She is auto-buy so this is on the list. The advance reviews I’ve read say that the language the characters use takes some getting used to but they are also overwhelmingly positive. On the TR list.
As a provocative series of paranormal temptation begins, a vampire king seduces the supernaturally gifted man hunting him. But when the stakes are literally life or death, their struggle for control is no game.
Benjamin Fuller is a hunter, born and bred. Blinded as a child by the vampire who slaughtered his family, he’s blessed with a second sight that allows him to catch and kill his quarry. What his gift can’t help him see coming is his fierce, almost carnal attraction to the mystery man who claims to be a fellow hunter and whose touch triggers both lust and revulsion. When he gains the upper hand, Benjamin vows to bring his enemy to his knees.
After many years spent in exile, the only one who can help restore Tzadkiel Dragoumanos to his rightful place as War King is a blind hunter with golden curls, a lithe dancer’s physique, and distinctive facial scars—scars Tzadkiel gave him two decades ago. The mere scent of Benjamin Fuller provokes an unwelcome rush of insatiable desire. Yet to win an all-out supernatural war, Tzadkiel must resist the ravenous hunger to possess his prey—for now.
Status on TR List : I have an unholy love for Firefighter novels and I have read, and enjoyed, some books from this author before. On the list!
“I never thought I’d get a second chance at a first time with you.”
Firefighter Logan Knight thinks it’s fate when he meets Arabella Tucker again, nine years after their brief, intense relationship ended. Until he realizes that Bella doesn’t recognize him and all of their memories together are completely erased from her memory.
Bella may be oblivious to their history but she can’t deny their scorching chemistry and the possibility of a future with the mystery man from her past. Logan wants a future too, but he can’t go there until Bella knows everything they shared. Her parents, though, want to protect her from the emotional cost of old memories and so Logan is reluctantly persuaded to let the past lie.
Status on the TR List : Another guilty-trope pleasure; the nanny trope! I’m in for this book (I haven’t read the first but what the hell!) 🙂
Soft-spoken and shy Hannah Fisher is determined to make the man she’s loved her entire life finally see her as a woman. With the help of a makeover, a new mission—Operation Find My Happy—and the convenient forced proximity of a tour bus, she vows to win her best friend Deacon’s heart.
Former bad boy and current fiddle player Deacon Latrell has the world at his fingertips: a new gig with a famous band, plus his best friend on tour as his son’s nanny. Life couldn’t get much sweeter. Now if only he could stop imagining kissing the daylights out of his childhood BFF…
With one friend set on pushing the boundaries and the other afraid to rock the boat, one thing’s for certain—their story would make one heck of a country song.
Each book in the Country Blues series is a standalone story that can be enjoyed out of order.
Status on TR list : I am a steam-punk FAN and this one intrigues me. The author (and this book) receive mixed reviews but there does seem to be an overall positive response. On the list.
This book contains adult themes, violence, strong language, sexual situations, and nudity. Recommended for mature readers only.
Jesse Winthrope is a self-made millionaire who has quickly risen from his own humble beginnings. Rocketed high into the upper echelons after the invention of his high efficiency Winthrope Steam Engine, Jesse is poised to take on the Western Frontier, starting in the city of Diablo.

Can their feelings for each other survive, or will society get the best of them, dousing the fire in their hearts?
