Top Picks is a weekly meme that we do here at Scorching Book Reviews. In this post, I highlight the Romance books that I want to read that are released this week.
They are all books on my TR pile and only books we are interested in spending money on. I do not ask people to recommend books or highlight releases for author promo.
I feel I have to point out that books in a series are only going to be featured on here if I have started the series. I can’t recommend a series at book 14 when I haven’t read the others. I don’t read NA. I also don’t recommend books from authors who have engaged in awful behaviour or have bigotted views – I chose not to give them my money so you won’t find them on here.
Status on the TR List : Tessa Bailey is auto-try for me. I wasn’t a fan of her NA but I have enjoyed everything else. I cannot wait to read this….
A timeless love story with bite.
It was a night like any other for funeral home director Ginny Lynn, until the exceptionally handsome—and unfortunately deceased—young man on her embalming table sat up, opened his emerald eyes and changed the course of her life
forever, making her feel quite fluttery while he was at it.
Humans aren’t supposed to know Jonas Cantrell, or any vampire, exists. It’s kind of a major rule. Despite his instantaneous bond with perfectly peculiar Ginny, he has no choice but to erase her memories of their one and only meeting.
That was the plan. Before a reluctant Jonas can wipe Ginny’s mind clean, she reveals a secret that brings their worlds crashing together. Human and vampire. Past and present. Darkness and light. And while their love is strictly forbidden, it might be the
only thing that can save them…
Reborn Yesterday is a standalone novel.
Status on the TR List : How cute is this cover? It also sounds like the type of historical romance that I would like – I have pre-ordered this book.
Left standing on the side while their contemporaries marry into society, four young ladies forge a bond to guard each other from a similar fate . . .
Finishing school failed to make a proper lady of Penelope Arrington. But as a Wallflower of West Lane, Poppy has a far more vital role—she and her three best friends have made a pact to protect each other from the clutches of dangerous, disreputable men. So when one of them is about to be married off to a duke sight unseen, Poppy makes it her mission to divine the prospective husband’s true character. If only she didn’t require the aid of London’s most unsuitable rake.
Rhys Draper, Earl of Marsden, has known the headstrong Poppy since she was a young girl naïve to the ways of men. To her eternal chagrin—and to his vague amusement—they have been at odds over the memory of embarrassing first encounter all these years. Now, with his services in need, Rhys sees a chance to finally clear the air between them. Instead, he is surprised by the heat of their feelings. If the two do not tread carefully, they may end up in a most agreeably compromising position . . .
Status on the TR List : Although the cover offends my eyes (pink and cyan???) I do like the lookof this book. I will be downloading a sample (First person either really works for me or it does not) because of the blurb really works for me.
My brother’s best friend stole my first kiss, and then he left town without saying goodbye.
Now, he’s back…
…and I’m in trouble.
Love is a lie, and Sacha Black is the biggest fibber of them all.
Ten years ago, he told me he cared about me.
We kissed. I swooned.
His kiss still echoing on my lips, his face still etched on my brain.
G-O-N-E. Disappeared. Ghosted. Never to be heard from again…
My brother’s getting married, and his best man happens to be the one person I never want to see again.
Sacha Black is all grown up.
All thigh-clenching, cheek-burning, panty-melting misery.
The moment his stormy, gray eyes meet mine, I know my poor heart doesn’t stand a chance.
The only thing standing between us is ten years of pain and my very protective brother.
Shouldn’t Want You is a full-length brother’s best friend romance with a HEA and no cliffhanger.
Status on the TR List : I enjoy Samantha Chase’s books – they are charming. I have this one on the TR list as I’ll probably read some reviews and pick it up in time for my next vacation.
Grace Mackie is having the worst day.
Finding out her fiancé only proposed for the sake of a promotion is one thing. But discovering he’d also knocked up his assistant? There’s no coming back from that. Desperate to escape her own destination wedding, she’ll do just about everything to get back home and put the whole mess behind her. Even driving cross-country in a rental car.
Finn Kavanaugh’s day is even worse.
What had started as a brother bonding trip has now left him stranded three thousand miles from home without a car or credit card. Because his brother took off with both. So much for bonding, right? As much as he might want to throttle his brother, he first has to find a way to get home. His only option? A rental car and a cross-country trek.
Neither of them expected their trip would come complete with a surprise passenger. But desperate times and all that.
Warning — This sweet, sexy and laugh out loud funny romance is filled with all the most ridiculous road trip stories you can imagine and sure to drive you crazy with all the feels!

Not her best day. And caught on viral video. Yep, “Halloween Mom” is now internet famous.

Hilarious, clever, and unforgettable, Little Wonders offers a glimpse into the high-pressure world of modern momming, with natural toys, scrutinized playdates, PTA politics, and social media gone amok.
Status on the TR List : I don’t often post re-releases but I haven’t read it and it features dogs … I am all in!

Status on the TR List : How gorgeous is this cover? I particulary enjoy historical MM and this one is a different time period. On the TR list.
Los Angeles, 1943
Reporter Nathan Doyle had his reasons to want Phil Arlen dead, but when he sees the man’s body pulled from the La Brea tar pit, he knows he’ll be the prime suspect. He also knows that his life won’t stand up to intense police scrutiny, so he sets out to crack the case himself.
Lieutenant Matthew Spain’s official inquiries soon lead him to believe that Nathan knows more than he’s saying. But that’s not the only reason Matt takes notice of the handsome journalist. Matt’s been drawn to men before, but he must hide his true feelings—or risk his entire career.
As Nathan digs deeper, it becomes increasingly difficult to stay one step ahead of Matt Spain—and to deny his intense attraction to him. Nathan’s secrets may not include murder, but has his hunt put him right in the path of the real killer?
Status on the TR List : Hudson Lin is an author I particulary enjoy. The romance is always lovely and the books tend to be angsty – this one has a beautiful cover and a interesting blurb – I am in.
Ben is looking for an adventure when he accepts a temporary assignment in Hong Kong, but he never anticipates how his life might change when he meets a sophisticated, intriguing man named Sai. Their initial attraction is sizzling and soon grows into more as Sai takes Ben on a tour of the city’s famous landmarks and introduces him to the local cuisine. Sai stimulates Ben’s intellect and curiosity, and for jaded corporate lawyer Sai, Ben’s innocent eagerness is a breath of fresh air. It would be so easy to fall in love….
But nothing is that simple. Sai’s job forces him to do things that violate his morals, and the difficult dynamics with his family is a major obstacle to any lasting relationship with Ben. For Ben, he misses his family back in Toronto, and can he really leave behind his home for a man he’s only known a short time? With the clock ticking, they must decide whether to risk it all and turn three months into forever.
Status on the TR List : I love Beth Williamson. This is a no-brainer for me and I will be putting it on the list. I haven’t read past book one in the series so I do need to catch it up.
Being a female bodyguard means Harley Graham has to work harder, longer, and fiercer than any of her male counterparts. It also means she has to ignore her baser needs. It’s not been easy but manageable until she gets the call to go to Montana to help out a friend and finds her world turned upside down by Sawyer Valentine.
Sawyer doesn’t want a bodyguard, especially a female one with a chip on her shoulder the size of a small country. She’s pushy and strong as hell, and dammit all, sexy even wearing body armor. His life is complicated enough being heir to a huge fortune and dealing with threats to his life.
The explosions that rock Sawyer and Harley will be nothing compared to what happens between them. When life gives you a hard right turn, hang on with both hands and don’t let go.
Status on the TR List : This one is a bit of a wildcard. I don’t know the authors work and there are very few reviews (and one is from a dubious reviewer) but it has caught my attention. It is on the list and I will be waiting for reviews.

“Gold fills the pages with explicit scenes of sex but rarely misses an opportunity to ramp up tension” — Kirkus Reviews
