Top Picks 19th Jan 2020 : Romance new releases from Lucy Parker, Jill Shalvis & Olivia Drake

New Romance Releases

Posted January 19, 2020 by Nix in Top Picks / 0 Comments

Top Picks is a weekly meme that we do here at Scorching Book Reviews. In this post, I highlight the Romance books that I want to read that are released this week.

They are all books on my TR pile and only books we are interested in spending money on. I do not ask people to recommend books or highlight releases for author promo.

I feel I have to point out that books in a series are only going to be featured on here if I have started the series. I can’t recommend a series at book 14 when I haven’t read the others. I also don’t read NA…

Also, the design of the site is in progress … Please be patient!

Headliners (London Celebrities Book 5) by [Parker, Lucy]

Status on the TR List : I’ve read this book and the review will be up this week. It is gorgeous. You don’t need to read the rest in the series (though I truly recommend you do). This is a rivals to lovers book which is absolutely stunning – It will be getting 5 stars.

Sparks fly when two feuding TV presenters are thrown together to host a live morning show in Lucy Parker’s latest enemies-to-lovers contemporary romance.

He might be the sexiest man in London, according to his fan site (which he definitely writes himself), but he’s also the most arrogant man she’s ever met.

She might have the longest legs he’s ever seen, but she also has the sharpest tongue.

For years, rival TV presenters Sabrina Carlton and Nick Davenport have traded barbs on their respective shows. The public can’t get enough of their feud, but after Nick airs Sabrina’s family scandals to all of Britain, the gloves are off. They can barely be in the same room together—but these longtime enemies are about to become the unlikeliest of cohosts.

With their reputations on the rocks, Sabrina and Nick have one last chance to save their careers. If they can resurrect a sinking morning show, they’ll still have a future in television. But with ratings at an all-time low and a Christmas Eve deadline to win back the nation’s favor, the clock is ticking—and someone on their staff doesn’t want them to succeed.

Small mishaps on set start adding up, and Sabrina and Nick find themselves—quelle horreur—working together to hunt down the saboteur…and discovering they might have more in common than they thought. When a fiery encounter is caught on camera, the public is convinced that the reluctant cohosts are secretly lusting after one another.

The public might not be wrong.

Their chemistry has always been explosive, but with hate turning to love, the stakes are rising and everything is on the line. Neither is sure if they can trust these new feelings…or if they’ll still have a job in the New Year.

This book is approximately 96,000 words

Almost Just Friends: Heart-warming and feel-good - the perfect pick-me-up! by [Shalvis, Jill]

Status on the TR List : This is the only series that I am not up to date with from Jill Shalvis. I like the series – I’m just behind as I’m on a PNR kick. On the list.

Sometimes the life you want is closer than you think.

Piper Manning’s about as tough as they come, she’s had to be. She raised her siblings and thankfully they’ve flown the nest. All she has to do now is finish fixing up the lake house her grandparents left her, sell it, and then she’s free.

When a huge storm hits, she runs into a tall, dark and brooding stranger, Camden Reid. The spark between them shocks her. Surprising her further, is the return of her sister and brother, each keeping their own secrets. It would be smart for Piper to ignore them all but Cam unleashes emotions deep inside her that she can’t deny. And her siblings…well, they need each other.

Only when the secrets come out, it changes everything Piper thinks she knows about her family, herself…and Cam. With the chance of the new life she craves within her grasp, can she find a way to let go and embrace it?

Forever My Duke (Unlikely Duchesses Book 2) by [Drake, Olivia]

Status on the TR list : I enjoyed the blurb to this book – the author is new to me, and I will be waiting for some reviews, but I have marked it TR.

Olivia Drake returns to her delightful new Regency romance series featuring rakish dukes and the governesses who steal their hearts

“I find Miss Fanshawe to be quite charming―for an American.”―The Prince Regent

Hadrian Ames, the Duke of Clayton, needs a bride. He’s even picked out the perfect one. That is, until he meets the lovely, free-spirited Natalie Fanshawe. She’s the exact opposite of what a man in his position needs—or should want—in a wife: an utterly delightful, outspoken American who has never even set foot in a London ballroom.

But Natalie doesn’t have time to be swept off her feet by a handsome duke she’s convinced is a scoundrel like every other British lord. As for his title, it’s not as if he actually worked to attain his wealth and status. He surely can’t understand what it’s like to be a busy woman, planning to open a school while trying to reunite a six-year-old orphan with his English relatives.

But Hadrian is about to surprise Natalie, and himself, as he sets out to prove that this duke is worthy of a governess!
