Top Picks is a weekly meme that we do here at Scorching Book Reviews. In this post we highlight the books that we want to read that are released this week. They are books on our TR pile and only books we are interested in spending money on.

On a side note, there are many Samhain repubs out this week. I want to draw attention to the Anne Rainey books, a series that I love.

This weeks Top Picks are…cooltext1265143614

Status on the TR List :  I want this book so badly I can taste it but unfortunately the UK seem to have a December release date. It’s got rave reviews!

When girl meets Duke, their marriage breaks all the rules…

Since his return from war, the Duke of Ashbury’s to-do list has been short and anything but sweet: brooding, glowering, menacing London ne’er-do-wells by night. Now there’s a new item on the list. He needs an heir—which means he needs a wife. When Emma Gladstone, a vicar’s daughter turned seamstress, appears in his library wearing a wedding gown, he decides on the spot that she’ll do.

His terms are simple:

– They will be husband and wife by night only.

– No lights, no kissing.

– No questions about his battle scars.

– Last, and most importantly… Once she’s pregnant with his heir, they need never share a bed again.

But Emma is no pushover. She has a few rules of her own:

– They will have dinner together every evening.

– With conversation.

– And unlimited teasing.

– Last, and most importantly… Once she’s seen the man beneath the scars, he can’t stop her from falling in love…

Status on TR list : I like Sidney Bristol and I like this cover … definitely on the list 🙂

He follows orders.

A good SEAL, Shane York values chain of command. Following the rules means staying alive. All of that is wrecked when his team is sent to Jamaica on a hostage rescue. She’s not the mission, but they leave no one behind.

She breaks the rules.

Travel blogger Lacey Miles lives for today. Thanks to her unexpected rescue from certain death, she has a shot at tomorrow. She wants her mercenary captors to pay, and she has the evidence to ensure it—if she lives long enough to deliver it.

Opposites spark an unlikely romance in the heat of danger.

Delivering the intel and keeping the hostages alive becomes priority one for the Aegis Group Alpha Team. The last thing Shane and Lacey have time for is love. As the team races home and bullets fly, rules fall by the wayside and lines begin to blur. With a traitor in their midst, will love be a distraction or a strength?

Status on TR list : This has mixed reviews but I have had good experiences with this author. It’s not on the top of the TR list but I’m interested.

Lord Ashworth keeps himself hidden in the crumbling Silverstone Manor. A night of terror years ago left his face in ruins and his reputation destroyed. Rumors from the village allow everyone to believe he’s a murderous monster. Refusing visitors and all potential brides sent by his mother, Ashworth keeps the world from invading his self-made prison.

The newest woman at his door refuses to be afraid. She’ll not allow his face, his intimidations, or the oddities of the manor to scare her away. Her very presence threatens to reveal his secrets. He cannot have her stay…and yet to have her leave is unthinkable.

Vivian Suttley knows the true meaning of evil. Her desperation has led her to the daunting manor with its reclusive lord. She’ll chance the whispers and rumors if it means an escape. After all, Ashworth saved her once many years before; perhaps he can be her savior once again.

Status on TR list : COWBOYS. I really like Sandy Sullivan (usually I find her stuff quite sweet). On the list.

Charlie Abrams didn’t know what she’d find when she drove down the gravel driveway of her new home. It certainly wasn’t the sexy cowboy coming out of her barn wearing no shirt, low slung jeans, and dirty boots. Fresh out of a nasty divorce, the last thing she needs is another man.

Caleb Armstrong thought he was taking a new job training horses for a city slicker wannabe where he could make some quick money and move on until he ran into his new boss. Charlie Abrams wasn’t supposed to be an experienced trainer with her hopes set on taking the cutting horse business by storm.

Together they’ll burn up the sheets and ride out some trouble on the ranch, but will they be able to see past the hot nights and sweaty bodies to decide if there is a future worth fighting for?
