Top Picks is a weekly meme that we do here at Scorching Book Reviews. In this post, I highlight the Romance books that I want to read that are released this week. They are books on my TR pile and only books we are interested in spending money on.
This week’s Top Picks are…
Status on TR list: I love Bianca D’Arc – this is on the list! I’m only actually familiar with her PNR so this will be new for me.
Roisin can’t forget the man she met on her last trip to Baltimore a year ago. Jim can’t forget her either, but he hasn’t been in the States since they parted. He’s back now, with a big decision to make – whether or not to retire from the military or give Uncle Sam another few years of his life.
Meeting Roisin again changes everything and throws all sorts of new and exciting variables into the calculus of his decision. Jim’s always been a steady, staid kind of man, but Roisin brings out something much more primitive in him. She makes him feel alive in ways he never could have expected or anticipated. And he wants more.
Jim makes Roisin want things she’s never dared. Their one-nighter last year had been memorable, but doomed from the start. She’d had to go back home to New York and he’d been shipping out for Afghanistan. Now, when they meet again, has anything really changed or is this the start of something truly magical?
Status on TR list : I first tried this author when she published a book for 99P with a stunning cover. I really enjoyed it and she is an author I’ve enjoyed since. This is on the list (fake-relationship?! trope crack!)
In high school, I was in love with Hunter Ness, but he friend-zoned me. Time passed. I grew up. He went to prison. And now he’s going to be my husband for a year.
There are reasons.
He’s not going to be a real husband. Just a practice husband so he can have a job and a place to live and I can finally experience parts of life I’ve only read about before. We’re just friends, and I’m helping him out.
But still… He’s way too sexy, and he knows me far too well. It’s hard to remember he’s not the real thing. But I’m going to stay smart. I’m not going to fall for my ex-con husband who only sees me as a friend.
Status on TR list: OOOHHH, this looks pretty. The hero looks like a sexy pirate on the cover, it’s all about angels and demons …. I’m in! On the TR list.
Anya—a stoic, blue-winged angelic warrior—was bitten by a demon prince in battle, and now she has precious little time to find a cure for his deadly venom. But the only archangel with the power to stop the dark poison from corrupting her body and soul is missing. She’ll have to trust her guide, the outcast high demon Dommiel, who is as handsome as he is dangerous if she has any hope.
An outcast of his own kind, high demon Dommiel stays under cover while the war between angels and demons rages on. When the only person who ever showed him kindness asks for his help, he has no choice but to try to save the angel. Venturing back into the dens he has avoided for so long, Anya makes him want and feel things he never thought possible.
But Dommiel knows there is no way an angel can ever love a demon…
Each book in the Dominion series is STANDALONE:
* The Deepest Well
* Darkest Heart
Status on TR list: I saw this and bought book one – I have no idea if I’ll like it but it looks fun!
Five guys. One bar. And a whole heap of sexy trouble…
Liam Callahan is devastatingly handsome, infuriatingly aloof and… my new boss? Put that at the top of the list of ‘Things I Wish I’d Known (Before I Was Panting in His Arms During a Sizzling Midnight Make-out Session.)’
My bartending gig at Rascals was supposed to be a fresh start for me. Now I’m juggling drink orders AND red-hot sexual tension – but I refuse to let Liam’s smoldering stares throw me off my game…
Until one late night leads to another. And another. Liam has a reputation as Mr Heartbreaker, but he’s revealing a whole new side of himself: funny, playful, and most definitely NSFW. But this rascal has made a rule of never getting in too deep, and despite the real connection between us, something’s holding him back.
Can we find a way to put the past behind us and move on? Or will my new beginning end in heartbreak before it’s even begun?
Find out in the hot new stand-alone romance from Katie McCoy!
#3 Heartbreaker – Aug 20th
#4 Soulmate – Oct 15th
#5 Troublemaker – Dec 10th
