Top Picks is a weekly meme that we do here at Scorching Book Reviews. In this post, I highlight the Romance books that I want to read that are released this week.
They are all books on my TR pile and only books we are interested in spending money on. I do not ask people to recommed books or highlght releases for author promo.
I feel I have to point out that books in a series are only going to be featured on here if I have started the series. You are not getting book 8 if I haven’t read 1-7 … sorry, that is the way I work!!

I adore Katie Reus and this is a brand new series – I can’t wait for it.
The Bishop siblings’ family is on the verge of collapse as all three find themselves embroiled in danger. Family bonds may keep them alive…but only love can give them something to live for. Read BISHOP’S KNIGHT, the first novel in this ALL NEW heart-pounding Endgame trilogy!
She needs his help…
Thanks to years of government training, Evie Bishop knows how to get into places she doesn’t belong—and she’s very good at it. But years of doing black ops work burned her out so she returns home—to unexpected chaos. One of her brothers is in a coma and the other is in hiding, wanted for murder. Then a fellow operative from her past shows up shot and bleeding with news that an assassin is gunning for everyone involved with a past op. She’s forced to turn to the one man she knows she can trust—the man whose heart she broke.
But it will come with a price…
When Dylan Blackwood proposed a year ago, Evie turned him down flat and walked out of his life. He’s stunned when he finds her on his doorstep covered in someone else’s blood, needing his help. He always knew there was more to her than met the eye—that Evie was never simply the pampered society princess she wanted people to believe she was. But he never expected this. If she needs help, he’ll give it. Even if he can’t forget her betrayal. Even if he isn’t sure he can trust her. But his protection will come with a price—her heart. Before they can have a chance at a future, they’ll have to work together to take down a faceless enemy who has Evie firmly in his crosshairs.
FIRST IN NEW TRILOGY
Author note: This book can be read as a stand-alone, complete with HEA.

I always highlight books in this series that catch my eye. It is a standalone novel in the Stark Ever After series which I have enjoyed previously …
From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author J. Kenner comes a new story in her Stark Ever After series…
Despite everything I have suffered, I never truly understood darkness until my family was in danger. Those desperate hours came close to breaking both Damien and me, but together we found the strength to survive and hold our family together.
Even so, my wounds are deep, and wispy shadows still linger. But Damien is my rock. My hero against the dark and violence.
And when dark memories threaten to consume me, he whisks me away, knowing that in order to conquer my fears he must take control. Demand my submission. Claim me completely. Because if I am going to find my center again, I must hold tight to Damien and draw deep from the wellspring of our shared passion.
**Every 1001 Dark Nights novella is a standalone story. For new readers, it’s an introduction to an author’s world. And for fans, it’s a bonus book in the author’s series. We hope you’ll enjoy each one as much as we do.**

I REALLY like the sound of this one – It’s on Kindle Unlimited so I have pre-ordered it!
From New York Times bestselling author CD Reiss comes a story of friendship, romance, and growing into a love that was always there.
Rachel knew exactly what turning thirty would be like. She had a plan, after all. First college, then a climb up the professional ladder. Love, marriage, children. All of it was on the schedule.
The cheap Hollywood apartment wasn’t on the list. Neither was the string of heartbreaks. Or the effect her mother’s cancer had on her career.
It’s hard to stay practical and on point when everything takes a left turn.
Enter Sebastian, the nerd across the street. The boy she defended when he couldn’t defend himself. The best friend she promised she’d marry if life didn’t go according to plan.
Not only is he successful, confident, and gorgeous, but he also still has their handwritten marriage contract.
No one goes through with childhood wedding pacts.
That’s crazy.
But their families might just be crazy enough to rent a hall and set a date. All Rachel and Sebastian have to do is fall in love.

I LOVE the sound of this one; a gay, single Dad finds love… on the list.
Romance on Aisle Sixteen—opposites attract amid the hammers and screws of the home improvement store.
Gabe Mason became a father at seventeen, and his daughter, Ellie, is the most important thing in his life. But being the parent the courts demand means Gabe has given up most of his dreams—education, making furniture, a gay social life—to be a model dad with a steady, reliable job in a home improvement store. Life’s predictable until Jerry, a shy, eccentric guy in a hat and sunglasses, begs Gabe to oversee the renovation of his run-down mansion.
Gabe loves the house and the work, and Jerry’s pretty lovable too, but when Gabe discovers Jerry’s secret identity, he fears their passion could overturn both their lives forever.

I am unsure about this one – I want to be excited about it but I have a fear of it being a tad judgey about reading .. I am waiting reviews.
Meet Nina Hill: A young woman supremely confident in her own… shell.
Nina has her life just as she wants it: a job in a bookstore, an excellent trivia team and a cat named Phil. If she sometimes suspects there might be more to life than reading, she just shrugs and picks up a new book.
So when the father she never knew existed dies, leaving behind innumerable sisters, brothers, nieces, and nephews, Nina is horrified. They all live close by! She’ll have to Speak. To. Strangers.
And if that wasn’t enough, Tom, her trivia nemesis, has turned out to be cute, funny and interested in getting to know her…
It’s time for Nina to turn her own fresh page, and find out if real life can ever live up to fiction…

I love Eve Langlais. I don’t expect this one to be remotely sensible – perfect
Duty or love? Will a guard make the right choice?
Becky needs a scoop to make her mark in the journalism world and gets her chance when she’s hired as a nurse for a top-secret clinic hidden in the Rockies. What she doesn’t expect is to become one of the patients and kept prisoner.
The doctors are playing God and have found a way to change people. Change them into something else. In her case, she becomes a mermaid. The only one of her kind and about to be sold to the highest bidder unless she can convince the man guarding her to set her free.
Jett ain’t no hero, yet, he finds himself rescuing Becky, over and over. Even starts liking the talkative nurse, which is a bad idea. He knows better than to get involved with a woman. Didn’t his daddy teach him love always hurts?
It hurts, alright, especially because he ends up having to make a choice; doing his job or protecting Becky.
Is it even possible for a man to love a mermaid? Might be time to take some scuba diving lessons to find out.

I haven’t read any in this series however I do like the look of it. I’ve stuck it on the holiday TR pile.
One taste of her lips, and friendship is off the menu
Kate has always been everybody’s friend and the de-facto little sister to the Wyatt brothers. But her feelings for Todd Wyatt, the town’s hottest firefighter, never skirted the sibling zone. Not that he’s ever noticed.
After years of nursing her crush, Kate decides to take action, hoping to hide her one awkward secret—she’s a virgin. Can she seduce Todd and keep her inexperience a secret?
In Todd’s mind, Kate’s always been the sweet girl he teases and hits up for free cupcakes. Until one surprise kiss over the summer jumps her from the platonic side of his brain to the want-her-in-my-bed side. The last thing he wants is to lose her friendship, but his resistance to her determined seduction is slipping. Fast.
When her bakery is vandalized and the attacks escalate, it becomes clear that for all Kate’s friends, she’s made at least one serious enemy. Can Todd and Kate solve the mystery before things turn deadly?

I have read none of this series – I love the premise though so have marked it TR!
Best friend. The guy next door. Secret hitman.
Rhys has wanted his best friend Vivi for years. But if she knew all the wicked, dirty things he wanted to do with her, she’d never speak to him again. She’d also never speak to him again if she knew he was a contract killer.
But when Vivi’s life is threatened because of Rhys’s dark past, it’s up to him to protect her. Off grid in a remote cabin, it becomes harder and harder to resist years of pent up need.
And when Vivi shows that she wants him too?
All bets are off.
But can he protect the woman he loves, and his heart at the same time?
