Top Picks is a weekly meme that I do here at Scorching Book Reviews.
In this post, I highlight the Romance books that I want to read that are released this week. I have been lazy of late with not going past Tuesday – that has changed and I now look for books up to Sunday.
They are all books on my TR pile and only books I am interested in spending money on. I do not ask people to recommend books or highlight releases for author promo.
I feel I have to point out that books in a series are only going to be featured on here if I have started the series. I can’t recommend a series at book 14 when I haven’t read the others.
I don’t read NA. I do not read reverse harem.
I also don’t recommend books from authors who have engaged in awful behaviour or have bigotted views – I chose not to give them my money so you won’t find them on here. If I make a mistake and feature an author who is an awful person, tell me in the comments and the book will be removed.
I have made the decision to add amazon links and links to twitter profiles on this post however they are not affiliant links as I CBA with amazon.
Status on the TR list : I adore this series. Seriously, it is amazeballs … pre-ordered.
A desperate situation calls for dangerous deeds…
Proud heiress Arabella Larke has little respect for rules and no time for scruples, not when she faces marriage to a man she loathes and fears. Determined to save herself, Arabella comes up with a plan: a fake engagement with her childhood nemesis, Guy Roth, Marquess of Hardbury, recently returned home after years away. To Arabella’s surprise, Guy has become strong, honorable, and unexpectedly attractive…but he refuses to even hear her plan.
After leaving England to escape his corrupt, controlling father, Guy has vowed never to do anyone’s bidding again—certainly not Arabella’s. To Guy’s surprise, Arabella has become intriguing, quick-witted, and unexpectedly attractive, but he has enough drama trying to gain custody of his younger sisters, and he wants nothing to do with her dubious schemes.
Until Arabella shows up at his house one night, and Guy finds himself entangled to a dangerous degree…
Warm, witty, and moving, this historical romance tells the story of a proud, flawed lady, and the man brave enough to love her.
Status on the TR List : I enjoy Jaci Burton but I haven’t picked up a book in a while. This one looks fun … on the TR list.

But Jason wants a lot more than just a one-night stand with the woman he’s cared about for years. He’s intent on taking things slow, determined to show Erin what real love can look like.
Suddenly Erin finds herself with feelings she never planned on having again – she just isn’t sure she can trust her instincts. After all, she made a terrible choice with her ex-fiancé.
But Jason intends to convince her that he’s the best man for her, and that what they have together is a true love that will last forever…

Status on the TR list : There is rave reviews for this everywhere and I do have good experience with Alexis Hall’s work – and it’s fake relationship!!! On the TR list.
One (fake) boyfriend
Practically perfect in every way
Luc O’Donnell is tangentially—and reluctantly—famous. His rock star parents split when he was young, and the father he’s never met spent the next twenty years cruising in and out of rehab. Now that his dad’s making a comeback, Luc’s back in the public eye, and one compromising photo is enough to ruin everything.
To clean up his image, Luc has to find a nice, normal relationship…and Oliver Blackwood is as nice and normal as they come. He’s a barrister, an ethical vegetarian, and he’s never inspired a moment of scandal in his life. In other words: perfect boyfriend material. Unfortunately apart from being gay, single, and really, really in need of a date for a big event, Luc and Oliver have nothing in common. So they strike a deal to be publicity-friendly (fake) boyfriends until the dust has settled. Then they can go their separate ways and pretend it never happened.
But the thing about fake-dating is that it can feel a lot like real-dating. And that’s when you get used to someone. Start falling for them. Don’t ever want to let them go.
Status on the TR list : How amazing does this book sound? The reviews so far are very good but there are only a few – on the list!!
Royal dukes from rival countries, shipwrecked on a deserted island. The grudge match of the century—or a love story of super-heroic proportions?
Sander Fiala, Duke of Roses, is fourth in line to the South Abarran throne, even though his rogue power earned him the nickname “The Monster of Roses” and got him banished from the Castle. But right before he’s about to set off on his annual birthday sailing trip, the Queen asks him to meet with the notoriously volatile North Abarran Duke of Arles.
Tarik Jaso, Duke of Arles, expects the worst from people because—let’s face it—people are the worst. His superpower bombards him with any and all electronic transmissions, which…yeah, people suck. So when he’s attacked and wakes up in the cabin of a stranded boat, he knows he’s royally screwed. Because the man looming over him—the man he’d gone toe-to-toe with right before the attack—is the infamous Monster of Roses.
Tarik is positive the Monster is behind his kidnapping. Sander is sure the whole thing is Tarik’s fault. As they work toward rescue, Tarik realizes that the disturbingly hot Sander is no monster, and Sander discovers that Tarik’s temper masks a caring soul wrapped in a cantankerous (though undeniably sexy) body.
For their burgeoning connection to endure, they’ll have to duke it out with political factions, dark conspiracies, and centuries of traditions that keep them on opposite sides of the border.
But first? They have to get off this damn island.
Duking It Out is a 46,000-word M/M enemies to lovers, opposites attract, superhero rom-com, featuring Only One Bed, a grumpy duke who should know better than to jump to conclusions, a self-doubting duke who’s good with his hands (heh), gossipy seagulls, competent assistants, a guaranteed HEA, and (unfortunately) capes.
Status on the TR List : I haven’t read any of the previous books in the series but they are all advertised as standalones. I do like forced proximatey romances and the others in the series have such good reviews!
She’s strictly off-limits.
Will that stop him?
When their worlds collide, sparks fly.
Will they be engulfed by the flames?
After a serious accident, worldly CEO Noah Breedlove’s family hires Damaris Glen as his live-in caretaker. At least until their mutual attraction overrides logic, and she’s forced to choose between her family…and him.
Status on the TR List : There are absolutely no reviews for this but her previous books have fabulous reviews. This blurb is right up my alley .. on the list!

Will Silver have a chance at real happiness, or will the stalker ultimately win in the end?

Status on the TR list : This is purely a moment of judging a book by its cover … look how pretty! I need to read some reviews before I buy anything,
