Romance Preview Post 22nd April 2019 (Sorry it’s late!) : Releases from Lucy Parker, Alexa Parker, Racheline Maltese, Erin McRae & Heidi Cullinan

Top Picks is a weekly meme that we do here at Scorching Book Reviews. In this post, I highlight the Romance books that I want to read that are released this week. They are books on my TR pile and only books we are interested in spending money on. I feel I have to point out that books in a series are only going to be featured on here if I have started the series. I will get round to reviewing this but I have been lucky enough to review this and it is FABULOUS. Lucy Parker is rapidly becoming auto-try for me. This is 5 Stars. In which experienced West End actress Freddy Carlton takes on an Austen-inspired play, a scandal at a country estate, an enthusiastic search for a passion outside of acting…and the (some people might say icy*) heart of London’s most feared theater critic.*if those people were being nice Freddy Carlton knows she should be focusing on her lines for The Austen Playbook, a live-action TV… Keep Reading »

Hot Cover Monday : The Break-Up Bet by Cat Carmine

Hot Cover Monday : The Break-Up Bet by Cat Carmine

I think I’ve seen this image before but it’s just soooo pretty I don’t care. The reviews for this are pretty good too. Never make a bet with a man who plays to win… Especially not a man like handsome, arrogant Connor Pratt. AKA the huge PITA who’s currently crashing in my spare room. AKA my brother’s best friend since they were about six. AKA the one guy who still makes me feel like an awkward tongue-tied loser. But when Connor moved in, I got a glimpse of another side of him. Because, like me, Connor’s going through a nasty break-up. And, like me, he’s just doing whatever he can to get through it. Unfortunately, his method involves drinking alarming amounts of whiskey and watching a lot of, um … movies … that make every inch of my skin flush. I’m just trying to be helpful when I tell him that he should try my way: copious amounts of baked goods, sappy romantic comedies, and late nights spent whining with… Keep Reading »

I am a fan of Carrie Ann Ryan’s books – this one is on the TR list. From NYT bestselling author Carrie Ann Ryan, comes a brand new series where second chances don’t come often, and overcoming an unexpected loss means breaking everything you knew. I fell for Cameron Connolly at the wrong time. And when he left, I thought my life was over. But then, after the worst happened, I truly understood what that phrase meant. Now, he’s not ready for a second chance, and I’m not offering one. Though given that our families… Keep Reading »

Hot Cover Monday : Hard Target by Pamela Clare

Hot Cover Monday : Hard Target by Pamela Clare

I love this author – and look how pretty this book is! On the list…. Derek Tower has spent his life at war, first as a Green Beret and then as the owner of a private black-ops company, Cobra International Security. When a high-ranking US senator asks Cobra to protect his daughter, a midwife volunteering in Afghanistan, Derek’s gut tells him to turn the senator down. The last thing he wants to do is babysit an aid worker. But Jenna isn’t just another assignment. She’s also the younger sister of his best friend, the man who died taking bullets meant for him. There’s no way Derek can refuse. Jenna Hamilton doesn’t need a bodyguard, especially not one hired by her intrusive and controlling father. She knew the risks when she signed on to work in rural Afghanistan, and the hospital already has armed security. She also doesn’t need the distraction of a big, brooding operative skulking about, even if he is her late brother’s best friend—and sexy as hell. As… Keep Reading »

They are books on my TR pile and only books we are interested in spending money on. I feel I have to point out that books in a series are only going to be featured on here if I have started the series. I adore this series – PNR at its finest From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Larissa Ione comes a new story in her Demonica Underworld series… It’s been seven months since Cipher, an Unfallen angel who straddled a razor thin line between good and evil, woke up in hell with a new set of wings, a wicked pair of fangs, and a handler who’s as beautiful as she is dangerous. As a laid-back cyber-specialist who once assisted guardian angels, he’d been in a prime position to earn back his halo. But now,… Keep Reading »

Hot Cover Monday : Well Played by J.S. Scott & Ruth Cardello

Well, lookie how pretty this is?! Never heard of it but it’s 99P and has a fabuous cover/blurb … purchased! Lauren: Graham is my brother’s best friend. He’s always been my protector and my confidant because he accepts me the way I am — and not many do. I can’t imagine not having him in my life. Our weekend together was supposed to be a celebration. I graduated from college, Graham got engaged and signed with a pro football team, and my brother landed his dream job. It should have been the best time of our lives. Except that the weekend started with me walking in on Graham’s fiancée going down on my brother. I complicated the situation by having sex with Graham after that, but I wanted to comfort him and, damn, when I saw desire in his eyes — for me — I couldn’t say no. I’ve wanted him for so long. Now he doesn’t want to see me. He says he has a darker side he needs… Keep Reading »

I feel I have to point out that books in a series are only going to be featured on here if I have started the series. I’m lucky enough to have read this – review will be up next week. I loved it – classice Shelly Laurenston. Petite, kind, brilliant, and young, Stevie is nothing like the usual women bodyguard Shen Li is interested in. Even more surprising, the youngest of the lethal, ball-busting, and beautiful MacKilligan sisters is terrified of bears. But she’s not terrified of pandas. She loves pandas. Which means that whether Shen wants her to or not, she simply won’t stop cuddling him. He isn’t some stuffed Giant Panda, ya know! He is a Giant Panda shifter…. Keep Reading »

Hot Cover Monday : Play to Win by Kelly Jamieson

Hot Cover Monday : Play to Win by Kelly Jamieson

How pretty is this cover? The contrast between the black and white model and the green background just adds to the prettiness. This is on the Top Picks this week. After an injury forced Théo Wynn to give up professional hockey, he turned to his second love: numbers. Now, as the general manager of his grandfather’s NHL team, the Los Angeles Condors, Théo is dying to prove to the rest of his family—especially the brother who betrayed him—that he’s just as successful as the rest of them. If only Théo had a gorgeous woman on his arm to complete the picture. . . .Lacey Olson needs to get out of Las Vegas right now, thanks to her no-good, crooked brother. Romance Preview Post 17th March ’19 : Releases from Alyssa Cole, Jayne Rylon & Kelly Jamieson

I love this series – I have pre-ordered this. Alyssa Cole delivers another fun, sexy romance novella in the Reluctant Royals series! Regina Hobbs is nerdy by nature, businesswoman by nurture. She’s finally taking her pop culture-centered media enterprise, Girls with Glasses, to the next level, but the stress is forcing her to face a familiar supervillain: insomnia. The only thing that helps her sleep when things get this bad is the deep, soothing voice of puzzle-obsessed live streamer Gustave Nguyen. The problem? His archive has been deleted. Gus has been tasked with creating an escape… Keep Reading »
