Recommended Friday Freebie – Bittersweet by Sarina Bowen

Recommended Friday Freebie – Bittersweet by Sarina Bowen

Well, I’ve not read this but I have read other stuff by this author. I’ve picked it up – it has great reviews from people I trust! Oh, and the links are all from eReader-IQ to give them the commision – I can’t use the affiliate links due to Geo-restrictions so they may as well have them as I use the site daily! 🙂   A sexy new standalone from USA Today Bestseller Sarina Bowen. The last person Griffin Shipley expects to find stuck in a ditch on his Vermont country road is his ex-hookup. Five years ago they’d shared a couple of steamy nights together. But that was a lifetime ago. At twenty-seven, Griff is now the accidental patriarch of his family farm. Even his enormous shoulders feel the strain of supporting his mother, three siblings and a dotty grandfather. He doesn’t have time for the sorority girl who’s shown up expecting to buy his harvest at half price. Vermont was never in Audrey Kidder’s travel plans. Neither… Keep Reading »

#RombkLove Day 29 : Ménage and Polyam Romance

#RombkLove Day 29 : Ménage and Polyam Romance

Hello and welcome to Scorching Book Reviews. My name is Nix and I do enjoy a good ménage story. The stories on this list are about relationships with more than just two people; whether it be for a month, a year or forever, the love story is about how they make it work together and, in my opinion, the best ménage stories are the one where we see the relationship beyond the sex. I’ve had to really be mean with myself for this post. I had a million and one books to recommend and, I’ve managed to get the list down to 15. I’ve cheated a bit (a lot of these are series books) but I think I’ve managed to cut it down to a list with a wide range of reads. I have tried to only mention each author once – they probably have written more than one ménage story! All covers are clickable back to Goodreads for the blurb if you want to read it 🙂 Polyam Romance So,… Keep Reading »

Top Romance Picks 28th/29th May : HEA releases from Kelly Jamieson, Ainslie Paton, Tami Lund & Mina Carter

Image Copyright Protected from Pin Up Toons License details on the tab above Top Picks is a weekly meme that we do here at Scorching Book Reviews. In this post, we highlight the Romance books that we want to read that are released this week. They are books on our TR pile and only books we are interested in spending money on. Cash Hale has been in love with his best friend’s wife forever. Now Callie and Beau are divorced, but she’s still way off-limits. Dating her would betray his friendship with Beau. And Cash is nothing if not loyal. Callie Sutherland is starting over. Celebrating Romance : Maria Vale introduces Silver and Tiberius from The Last Wolf (incl. Giveaway)

Celebrating Romance : Maria Vale introduces Silver and Tiberius from The Last Wolf (incl. Giveaway)

It was Leonora Jeansdottir who first introduced me to the Great North Pack. The Pack’s Human Behaviors teacher, she felt that it was time to introduce the Pack to humans. Come out of hiding, even if only in “fiction.” This pack lives and has lived for 350 years in what is now call the Adirondacks. They are not werewolves. I made the mistake of calling them that early on and Leonora snapped at me. Although she usually dressed in knock-off Chanel and spiked heels, she is a very large woman (6’ 4” in said spiked heels) and when she snaps it is…disconcerting. The Great North are not “werewolves.” They call themselves Pack and are wolves first and foremost. That is their truest and most sacred form. It is what defines their culture and their hierarchy. Despite that minor setback early in our interactions, Leonora eventually decided that I could be trusted. She introduced me to a number of what they call Offlanders, Pack who live mostly as humans doing… Keep Reading »

Celebrating Romance 2018 : Demisexuality in Romance by Antonia Aquilante (Includes recommendation & a giveaway)

Celebrating Romance 2018 : Demisexuality in Romance by Antonia Aquilante (Includes recommendation & a giveaway)

Hi, everyone! I’m Antonia, and I write predominantly fantasy romance with LGBTQ characters. I want to thank Nix so much for running this celebration of romance and for letting me be a part of it. I’m excited to be here! I read my first romance novel at twelve, though even before then I always wanted a story where the characters lived happily ever after. My mom loaned the Nora Roberts book to me, telling me to skip the sex scenes…I didn’t. I’ve been a voracious romance reader ever since, and I still share books with my mom. Romance is where I go when I want to the comfort of that HEA, and the hope and happiness it brings. That’s what romance gives us. That’s why I write romance too—I want to write a little more hope and joy and love into the world for everyone. I think we all need it. I didn’t expect it, but in some ways, romance also taught me something more about who I am…. Keep Reading »

Celebrating Romance 2018 : Author interview from Vanessa North

Celebrating Romance 2018 : Author interview from Vanessa North

Why do you read Romance? I’ve always loved romance novels—for me, it’s the exploration of relationships that attracts me to the genre. Not just romantic love, but familial and also platonic relationships as well. In a romance novel, the character interactions take center stage. Other genres tend to be more plot driven, and that’s fine! It’s just not my jam. What was the first romance book you read? I believe it was Twice Loved by Lavyrle Spencer. I could be wrong though, it was a long, long time ago. Do you have a favourite trope? Probably enemies to lovers with some forced proximity sprinkled in. There’s something very delicious about the tension that particular combination creates and I looooove it. Why do you recommend romance? Because it’s fun, there’s a guaranteed happy ending, and there’s truly something for everyone. What would you love to see more of in romance? Bisexual characters who are allowed to be bisexual, who don’t have to “turn” gay. Identities aren’t tropes. I’d also love to… Keep Reading »

Celebrating Romance : I’m a Google Stalker by Lisa Emme (Includes Giveaway)

Celebrating Romance : I’m a Google Stalker by Lisa Emme (Includes Giveaway)

Hi everyone! I’m Lisa Emme and I write urban fantasy and hot, steamy romance. Thanks to Nix for letting me be here to help celebrate Romance Month on Scorching Book Reviews. Today I have my romance writer hat on and I want to talk to you about one of the best tools a writer has…Google. We’ve all heard the joke, “don’t judge me by my browser history, I’m a writer not a serial killer”. Funny but true, as I discovered when I started writing more than five years ago. I’ve Googled an eclectic array of things – guns, knives, tequila, sex toys, demons, magic rituals, the human circulatory system – which because of Google’s search-based marketing, means the ads I get online are often just as varied. To this day, I still get ads on Facebook for chicken coops, all because I Googled them when writing my most recent romance, The Yacht Club. There’s no doubt that Google is a useful tool, but you can do more than just… Keep Reading »
